The Trinity
Sermons
This is a controversial issue in Christianity.

The question is "Is God one, or is God three?"

I am not going to answer that question right now, but I will (though you will be able to tell my stance as you read this study)

If you look in Exodus 20:5, it says that you should "Never worship them or serve them, * beause I, the LORD your God, am a God who does not tolerate rivals.  I punish children for their parents' sins to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me." (God's Word translation)

It states right there that God will not tolerate anyone that wants to share his glory, or his majesty.

So... Why is it that with this evidence, that God will not allow anyone to share in his glory that God can be three seperate entities?  How is it that some people can believe that Jesus is God, I mean that would be blasphemy right?... Because no one can share God's glory but God himself, because he will not share it, at all... no way, no how.

It is simple,

Because they are all one.... (altogether seperate)

But in the same, God is Jesus, and God is the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost, or Spirit of God... they are all the same)

There are many verses that Jesus refers to God in the third person, so because of this, he is different from, or set apart from God.

But there are some people who have actually read (and understood) the verses that I am about to show you. And those people know the truth about this subject (and these are those who will get angry and fight about this subject)

One of the verses that I first need to show you is John 1:1

In this verse, John states that "in the beginning, there was the word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. * 2 HE* was with God in the beginning. (NIV)

* capitalized for emphasis, this is the only variation from the scripture.

So, Who is the Word?... Does it make sense, that God is the word... It says it right there in black and white.  But, this verse also contradicts itself, because it says that the word was "with" God, but the Word "was" God... How can this be?

Do you understand that this will never make sense?

You do know that we only have a finite mind, that can not comprehend the full scope of God.  (hopefully, you realize that you do not know everything)

This is one of the confusing things that does not make sense, much like (where did God come from, except that he has always been... something that we cannot comprehend.... (so don't try to reason it out... he is God))

IF YOU DO NOT GRASP THIS POINT, THEN THE REST OF THIS STRING OF VERSUS WILL NOT MAKE SENSE, SO PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE READ DHIT, AND UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS SAYING. Thank You.

Ok... Lets look a little bit farther into this book to see what else John has to say about "the Word"

Look in John 1:14, and 1:18

It says, "the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  We have seen his glory , the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." and verse 18 "No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known."
