| September 6, 1981 Hello Dolly, Hi! Kumusta ka na? Hope youre always doing fine. We are all okay here, so you have nothing to worry about. I am very busy with school activities nowadays. I spend almost all of my time at school. Imagine, I am at school from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. I dont even have time to go home at lunch. Then, when I come home from school, I have assignments to do. Sometimes, I would be doing assignments until late at night. Our schedule is really a pain. We have all the subjects everyday. We also have quizzes and tests almost everyday. And sometimes I miss the lessons because I am often excused from classes. I am an officer in the three clubs that I joined: President of the Math Club, Vice President of the Science Club, Education and Organization Chairman of the Kabataang Barangay. I joined only these three clubs. If I had joined the other clubs, I would probably also be an officer in those. I am now quite well known in our school. Sometimes, I meet students that I dont know and they would greet me, to my surprise. So I would smile and nod to them even if I dont know them. Our first periodical test is on September 8-9. We are busy reviewing for the tests. We also have review classes on Saturdays because the NCEE is on October 11. Thats why we are really taking the review classes seriously. The principal wants us to have a higher ranking this year. I have talked to Miss Borromeo. She finally had the chance to answer your letter. She is teaching in two schools now. She lives in a boarding house here in Pandacan. She invited me over to her place last week and we talked. She hasnt changed. Shes still very kind to me. She is my confidant/adviser. You know what, our guidance counselor sent for me last week. She informed me that colleges are now giving tests for scholarships. She picked the students from our section who have high-grade averages. She asked us to get certificates from the barangay attesting that we live here. Auntie Charito asked our barangay chairman if he could issue a certificate for me. If you will remember, I havent lived here for two years yet. The school is also asking for our income tax returns. That is my only problem now. Is it alright with you if I ask Papa for his income tax return? You know, I was surprised at my guidance counselor. I dont know how she knew that you are there in Canada. I explained to her that you are working in a factory. O sige ha, I still have to review for our tests. You must have received Miss Borromeos letter by now. I hope that you could be good friends. She is very nice and she is also close to HIM. Sige. Bye. Love and care, Irene |
