Hello Dolly,

Hi!  Kumusta ka na?  Hope youre feeling fine.  We received the green money about three or four days after you sent it to us.  The person that you sent it to didnt bother mailing it.  He delivered it himself.  Weve already exchanged it.  Actually, we have already spent some of it.  Lina and I went to the movies.  I also bought a new pair of shoes.

Lina and I went shopping for school supplies:  notebooks, pad paper, even plastic cover for the notebooks.  Weve already bought everything that we need.  We will be able to put some money in the bank next time.

Classes will start on June 22.  They were supposed to start on June 15, but it is election day on June 16.  Thats why they delayed the school opening.  We have to report to school on June 8, though.

The exchange rate for the cheque was P7.80.  We got P780 out of the 100 dollars.  So Lina and I got P280.

We are good with school uniforms.  You sewed 4 blouses before you left.  I just have to hem them and sew the buttons on.   Lina has a new skirt.  That was their school project last year.

I think P100 allowance for each of us, Lina and me, is more than enough.  P60 per month, like last year will do.  We dont really have a lot expenses in school.  We dont spend a lot on school projects either.  Teachers are very considerate with regards to expenses.  Besides, they know that money is tight nowadays.

You know what, Estrellas lola was sick and was confined at PGH.  Since she was here in Manila, she took the opportunity to phone me.  She invited me to go to Imus on April 16, Easter Sunday, but I turned her down.  I knew that Uncle Gene wouldnt let me go.  She phoned me again, and asked me to come over on May 1.  I turned her down again because of Uncle Gene.  Finally, we met at PGH on May 20.  I invited her to come here today because its my birthday, but she couldnt.  We cooked the sotanghon that you sent us.  Uncle Gene bought ice cream.  Auntie Charito gave me a present, an umbrella.  My old one was already broken.

     Sige ha.  Take care.

Yours,
Irene
