| June 2, 1981 Dear Dolly, Hi! How are you? Hope youre doing good and everythings going smooth. Are you a Canadian now? The stories in your letter about the way you eat and your style of living seems to be very Canadian. Its good that you have easily adjusted to the way of living there. You must have put on some weight by now. You still look quite thin in the pictures that you sent us. Ay! You know what? Uncle Delfin was here just before the end of May. We showed him the 5x7 pictures that you sent us before. He was surprised because you were quite huge in those pictures. He said that you dont look good in the two-piece bathing suits and that the peasant style fits you better because you look like a donya. Auntie Charito was laughing at his comments. Last Sunday, Mel, Lina and I went to Novaliches. It was the end of the Flores de Mayo in the subdivision. Ate Diana was the Reyna Elena. There were some celebrities there. Ernie Garcia was Ate Dianas consort. Gina Alajar was the Emperatriz, the highest title. Her consort was husband, Michael de Mesa. The celebrities had dinner at Auntie Hildas place. Auntie Hilda and her neighbor, Mrs. Gonzales, were the hermanas mayor. They both shared with the expenses. They raffled off tickets and the prizes were quite valuable. We received the $30 cheque that you sent us. Its good that you inserted it between the pictures. We havent received the $100 yet. Auntie Charito and I are worried because the mail that weve been receiving lately have been torn and taped over, even the ones that came here within the Philippines. Have I told you that there has been a revamp at the Post Office? There had been a conflict between the Bureau of Transportation and the Bureau of Land Transportation. You must have also heard about the confusion at MIA. There has been a revamp there, too. There is news that many are planning to boycott the June 16 national elections. Have you also heard about the attempted assassination of the Pope? We have a new maid now, the sister of Maria, Auntie Hildas maid. She came that Sunday that we went to Novaliches, so we brought her back home with us that same day. O sige, until here. Take care always. Yours, Irene |
