| April 22, 1981 Dear Dolly, Hi! Hello! How are you? Hope youre all right. Are you settled in your new place? I hope so. We just received yesterday your letter dated April 4. Our letters must have been delayed because of your moving. I hope that they wont get lost. You were asking if we had a junior and senior prom. Yes we did. Only, it was called Garland Festival. Only the girls participated in this. It was held on March 25 and I delivered a speech. I wore a pink dress. Our Recognition Day was also on the same date. I received several awards. We were not able to put any savings in the bank out of the money that you sent because I had to buy material for my dress. Also, we had to buy some stuff for our projects just before school ended. But now that school's over, we are able to put money in the bank again. You know, prices here have gone up, transit fares, too. When you left, jeepney fare was only 50 centavos, now its gone up to 65. Im sure that it will go up again when school re-opens. Nena is leaving on April 28. Auntie Charito will go to Cabanatuan or Guimba in May to look for another maid. If shes not able to find any there, she wants me to go with her to Atimonan and ask Auntie Violet to help us look for one. April 19 was Lolos birthday. Only Auntie Charito and Lina went. Auntie Hilda wasnt able to attend either because it was fiesta at Novaliches. It also fell on Easter Sunday. The rest of us did not go to Lolos birthday because Uncle Gene was here with Jenny and Martin. Actually they are still here up to this day. They came here on Maundy Thursday and will leave next week. Weve been playing cards lately and it has been fun. Lina and I sometimes play with them, too. We also play bingo with them, the three of us, me, Lina and Mel. Uncle Gene just got paid. I think that he has already spent P15.00 since we started playing the bingo games. On Easter Sunday, Uncle Gene made some Easter eggs and hid them everywhere. He emptied the eggs and put money inside. After we came home from church, we all scattered around to find the eggs. What about you, how did you celebrate Holy Week and Easter Sunday there? By the way, do they also have fiestas there? I have good news for you. Your idol, Vilma Santos, is now a mother. She gave birth to a baby boy just yesterday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m, by ceasarian operation. Do you remember Uncle Domings birthday? I know that its in May. I want to send him a birthday card and write Auntie Lucy, too. I hope that they still have the same address. O sige, ha. Bye! Ill tell you some more stories next time. Its already late. Lina will mail this tomorrow. Please write me about any happenings there, especially about the Holy Week. Take care! Please quit your part-time job. I am worried about your health. You dont want to get sick, do you? Theres no Irene there to look after you. Sige ha! Bye. Goodnight and sweet dreams. Love and care, Irene |
