Adverb clauses and the subjunctive mood

The use of the subjunctive mood in adverb clauses is mandatory according to the type of adverb clause and conjunction used:

1	Se eu fosse você, eu não faria isso.	If I were you, I wouldn't do that.
2	Se eu for à festa dela, vou levar uma garrafa de champanhe.	If I go to her party, I'll take a bottle of champagne.
3	Se ele não tivesse bebido tanto, ele não teria batido o carro.	Ih he hadn't drunk so much, he wouldn't have crashed his car.
4	Se ele não tivesse chegado atrasado, ele estaria assistindo ao filme.	If he hadn't arrived late, he would be watching the movie.

You may have noticed that conditional sentences also follow the verb tense sequence rule. Anyway, this is the sequence in conditional sentences:
