Romance languages

The Portuguese language

Portuguese is the fifth most spoken language in the world. It is also one of the official languages of the European Union and of the African Union.

Portuguese is the sole or one of the official languages of:

Brazil	Portugal	Angola	Cape Verde
Guinea-Bissau	East Timor	Sao Tome and Principe	Mozambique

The eight Portuguese-speaking nations are also member states of the CPLP - Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa (Community of Portuguese Language Countries).

Grammar features

There are two genders in the language: masculine and feminine.

There are two numbers in the language: singular and plural.
