European
Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese sound completely different, not only
to foreigners but also to native speakers. Besides, they present some
considerable differences in grammar use, word spelling and the use of some
accent marks. However, they represent standards of the
same language. Unfortunately, I
don't have much information about other Portuguese dialects (Angolan
Portuguese, Mozambican Portuguese, etc.). Please send me an

There are a lot
of different Portuguese accents in Brazil: all of them
are correct,
standard and must be regarded as different ways multicultural Brazil
expresses itself. These regional accents differ mostly in intonation,
pronunciation and vocabulary. You'll be able to hear Brazilian Portuguese

By the way, I have a Paulistano accent (from the city of São
Paulo). Some well-known Brazilian accents are:
Mineiro,
in the state of Minas Gerais;
Carioca,
in the city of Rio de Janeiro;
Santista,
in the city of Santos;
Caipira,
in the countryside areas of the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais;
Curitibano,
in the city of Curitiba;
Baiano, in
the state of Bahia;
Gaúcho, in
the state of Rio Grande do Sul;
Goianense,
in the city of Goiânia;
Mato-grossense,
in the state of Mato Grosso;
Nordestino,
in the northeastern states of Alagoas, Ceará, Sergipe and Paraíba.
