Adverb não |
Adverb não is one of the most important words in the language, because it forms negative sentences:
-
Não corresponds to all negative auxiliary verbs in English: don't, doesn't, didn't, hasn't, haven't, hadn't, won't and wouldn't;
-
It corresponds to not or n't, used in the negative forms of modals and verbs to be and there to be: can't, couldn't, mightn't, shouldn't, mustn't, wasn't, weren't, isn't, aren't and am not.
