Appearance:

In her early thirties, she�s done growing, reaching a fine 5�4�. Her rich red hair falls to about her hips and the bottom curls, it�s very thick and is often found braided or pooled on top of her head in a messy bun. Her eyes are a pale watery blue and she has pale skin with tons of freckles. She has a rather athletic build and is very lean. She�s got plenty of scars from working with creatures, especially on her hands and forearms. She�s proud of her scars though; every one has a memory or a lesson to go with it.

Personality Quirks:

Her general demeanor is very pleasant. She�s very open and willing to talk if you need to. Her fun-loving nature hasn�t faded from her teens. At heart she still thinks she�s seventeen. Teaching is something she�d come to love. She never thought she would be able to teach younger students, but she�s found it to be simply amazing. Stay on her good side and she�ll rarely assign homework. However, sometimes she can jump the gun on things, especially her temper, which she inherited from her Irish father. She�s always the first one to say �I�m sorry,� after a fight, however. Don�t cross her on purpose, you�ll surely regret it She hates it when people are mad at her and is always trying to mediate situations even if she doesn�t belong there.. Mel loves to read and is often found snoozing in the hammock in her office with a book on her lap. She�s especially fond of faery tales and trashy romance novels. Fears: getting old and not being able to travel, letting herself down, not meeting �Mr. Right� and never having kids

Family Life:

Mel is the middle child of a mixed Irish and Scottish family. Her father, Seamus was originally from Ireland, but fell head over heals for her mother, Ariel, and couldn�t leave. She has one older brother and one younger brother. Her elder brother, Rufus is one year her senior and is married to Cassidy. The two have a daughter, Mae (for Mel�s middle name) and a son, Connor. Rufus is also a creatures teacher at an academy in Vermont. Mel�s younger brother, Kane, is five years her junior and was more interested in the Aurorer profession. He works for the British Ministry of Magic and has done quite a bit of traveling himself.

History:

Mel hails for Inverary in the county Argyll, Scotland. She attended school at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry where she was a Hufflepuff. She continued her education and the Highland Magic Academy, where she graduated two years early after finishing her thesis on the Loch Ness Monster. The Highland Academy has funded many of her trips, including one to Romania to study dragons. Her age shouldn�t fool her colleagues however; she�s one of Europe�s leading Professors in the study of magical creatures. She tends to keep that quiet in the states, even though she does guest lectures and classes home in Scotland. She keeps a rapport with the Academy and often does research for them in the summer for extra money. She�s spent time in Japan, studying the infamous fox of Japanese lore. Her expeditions have taken her all over the world and she loves it.

Losing anyone in her family.

Hopes:

to get back into the dating pool before it�s too late to have kids, she desperately wants to be a mother

Talents:

She has a gift for creatures. She can also play the flue, cook very well and she can hold her own with liquor.

Her Quarters:

Mel�s quarters are painted quite a few bright colors. Her office is a nice pumpkin to match the Quesne commons. Her personal study and living room are warm, rich red and dark woods. Her kitchen is a deep blue with white trim to remind her of her country home in Scotland. Her bedroom is her favorite getaway. She painted it a deep forest green to remind her of the hills of Scotland. The woods are a fine pine. Her huge four-poster bed is king-sized as she loves to be able to sprawl out. Everything is very comfortable and there�s a touch of femininity that nobody would really expect from her. There are a ton of pictures from a myriad of travels both hers and her brothers. Of course there are many pictures of her family as well.

Other:

Mel keeps a few animals, a large barn owl named Scout and Ciara and Seamus the cats.
