Appearance:

Crowning a tall, thin frame Devon hosts layered black hair, an inch above his shoulders at its longest. He keeps it combed and ungelled.
Pale skin. Black eyes. Hollow cheeks. High jaw bones. Spiderlike hands. His nose has been broken twice and was straightened neither incidence, so remains inexcuseably crooked.
Devon generally dresses in a black silk shirt (usally untucked) and black dress pants, along with a pair of black socks and black dress shoes. When it is demanded of him, he will wear a set of robes.

Personality Quirks:

Devon's interest in fermented grapes could certainly be considered a personality quirk, especially as it has breached the distance between interest and obsession. He also tends to keep his fingernails very clean, and on the occasion that a student he doesn't understand attends the school, he will spend days locked in his office, sifting through books to try and pinpoint the student.
He is extremely protective over what he considers his own: Mina (his cat), Jael (his daughter), the roof (his hideout), Erin (his sister), Eve (his life's bane) and his Library (his wine).

Family Life:

Devon and his younger sister escaped their alcoholic/abusive parents when they each came to Pennsylvania State University for school. Devon grew up to get into trouble and finally (after a run-in with the county jail) got his head on straight, and learned to keep his thrill-seeking adventures to himself. Erin took her parents' path and became addicted to alcohol, but after her boyfriend's mother Seena Mitsya helped her recover, she married her boyfriend Joe. Her first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage, but on the second try she gave birth to Madison Connor Teslock.
Left over from one of the many adventures on his sebbatical in Greece, Jael's mother mailed Jael to Devon via FedEx when Jael was three years old. There is a controversy over whether or not Jael suffers from a cognative disorder, but nothing has been proved or suggested at this point in time.
A newer member of Devon's family, Cassandra Locke, is a nanny he hired to care for Jael, who has become close to Devon as well. Cassandra, extremely capable in her duties, firmly holds the belief that Devon is a good person, and frequently convinces him to change parts of his lifestyle to encourage this belief. Cassandra's past is largely unknown, aside from her Christian family, strong Wiccan beliefs, and an ex-girlfriend whom she occasionally pines over. Other people who live in Devon's house in Rome include a housekeeper (who is helping Jael retain her Greek), and Sivera Wexlin, a former prostitute at the Cerise who Devon brainwashed so the Council can't find him.

History:

Devon attended Pennsylvania State University through his seventh year, at which point as he reigned as the school's top dealer, Eve turned him in and he spent six months in jail. Upon his return he finished school and tricked Eve, breaking her heart for revenge, and then finally graduated.
After school he went underground for another year or two, and then received a job offer for Deputy Headmaster from the school's previous Headmaster, which he accepted.
Devon's mind has been growing progressively darker.

Fears:

Anything happening to, or losing, someone he loves (Mina, Jael or Erin); growing old; losing memory; losing sanity.

Hopes:

Devon hopes the international community never realizes that he hasn't actually succeeded in Alchemy. He also hopes that Jael will grow up semi-normal and that Eve will lead a miserable, hopeless life.

Interests:

Wine. Devon is interested in wine. He prefers reds and whites, dislikes roses, and his office is literally four walls filled with bookcases of wine. His favorite is Merlot, but he would just as soon take a thick Pinot Noir or a decent Chianti.
Devon's other interests include cooking, psychology, transfiguration, narrowly avoiding fatal situations, degrading his co-worker Eve Winchester, stargazing, and (yes, he's straight) fashion.
