::The Preparation & Training::
Contest Condition
To prepare your Pokemon for a Contest, you should first consider giving your Pokemon some Pokeblocks.  Pokeblocks will help you increase your Pokemon's condition depending on the kind of Pokeblock you give it.  The higher your Pokemon's condition is, the better it will do during the primary judging (first round).  As you can see from the image to the left, the Swampert's green pentagon is still small, therefore it hasn't been given any Pokeblocks at all.  You may view your Pokemon's condition through the PokeNav.
Contest Moves
You will also want to prepare some good Contest Moves for your Pokemon to use during the secondary judging (second round) of the contest.  Each known Pokemon move will have a specialty in a certain category.  For example, the Kyogre to your left  has the moves Body Slam and Waterfall, which are both in the Tough category.  If you were to enter this Kyogre into a Tough Contest, then Body Slam and Waterfall might be your best moves to rely upon.  Also, some moves can make combos wtih other moves to get greater appeals.
::The Competition::
Contest Condition
To have your Pokemon compete in a Contest, go to a Contest Hall (red houses with flat, gray rooftops).  It's best that you start from Normal Rank and work your way up to the Master Rank in Lilycove.  Next, talk to the lady at the counter so that you may choose which Contest you would like to enter.  Then choose which Pokemon you would like to use.
Round 1:  Preliminaries
Contest Condition Contest Condition
In the first round, each contestant will bring their Pokemon up to the stage and present it.  If you've been giving your Pokemon plenty of Pokeblocks to raise its condition, then your audience will give you hearts / points / votes.  The better your Pokemon's condition is, the more hearts you'll receive.  After that's all finished, you will proceed to the second round.
Round 2:  Judging Appeals
Contest Condition Contest Condition
This is the meat of the contest.  This is where the real competition begins and where things can really heat up.  Here is where you have to use your Contest Moves accordingly.  If you choose a Cute move in a Tough Contest, then you most likely won't get very many appeals.  Each move has an effect, and you must use these effects to either boost your appeals, scare opponents into losing appeals, become oblivious to others, scramble up the order, etc.  However, you cannot use the same move twice in a row, otherwise the judge will take off some crucial points.  Also, if your moves are according to the Contest, then you'll score some extra points, and if you get the crowd going, then you just might receive a whopping amount of extra points that may bump you up one place.  Use Combos wisely and be careful with your choices.
Final Tallying
Contest Condition
After all the rounds, the final judging goes down.  If you got any heart points from the people in the first round, then they will show up here as stars and the amount of stars you have will accumulate in the green bar.  Your average score in the second round will show up here as the hearts and will also accumulate in the green bar.  Whoever has their bar fully filled is the winner of the Contest.
