Johnny Why? - [email protected] [Mon May 1 21:11:00 2000] VS-880 doesn Hey, I'm trying to use the ORB with my VS-880, but the VS fails to recognize the ORB. Roland and Castlewood haven't been any help. Any suggestions? warren - [email protected] [Tue May 2 03:31:39 2000] HDR-6 Hey everybody, have been given 2 of these and no manuals. Thinking of doing some drum & bass and any need to know info would be much appreciated. vno - on location at the Denver airport [Fri May 5 15:52:04 2000] I have seen the testing of the VS880 with an ORB and it works You have to select the scsi disc option on the 880 and it will reconize as CSW. then you have to format the drive to accept. For the rest of you HDR users We have some great news coming for ya I am on my way to St. Louis to overlook some final stages. I will keep you updated and be on the lookout for the next update. kent - [email protected] [Sun May 7 12:11:53 2000] HDR-6 I still have HDR-6 EPROM Chips (v.3.04) available while supplies last. I am selling them at cost ($9.95 ea.) plus $1.50 shipping. Email me for details. I have 11 chips left. You never know when a great deal on an old HDR-6 will come. It's nice to be prepared. Scott - [Tue May 9 04:25:47 2000] Hey guys! Well my 1rst rebuilt V8 seems to be working great! I'm sending the 2nd in this week.Wish me luck with the brokerage fee! The upgrade chips are working out quite well in all my machines! I'm psyched! Thanks for all your help! And I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to BERTSCH electronics!!! Later! Jamesgray - [email protected] [Fri May 12 22:19:54 2000] HDRV8&8 Jn Bertsch has a new 32 track machine that kills, I am knocked out and has digitial compression on each channel. Out of the box it records 6hrs of 24bit/96hz. I talked with him comparing it to Mackie and other new machines. He mentioned you pay for many features not often used and I think he is right. These machines such as my HDR8 or the new 32 track are very straight forward machines geared for us to record music without being a computer expert. The price for Bertsch 32 track is about $5k. If I was still a professional I would spring for one without hesitation. I am afraid I would be celebate for about as long as it took me to pay for it. I must admit I miss you guys and everyday I check this site to mine tidbits. Also want to suggest you try to do some voice over. My V8 will be back from Canada any day and I am putting in a 10gig HD (it will only recognize 8.5gigs) and I plan to record the A.A. Milne poem "Lines and Squares" Milne wrote Winnie the Pooh great reading for us guys too post soon james Jamesgray - [email protected] [Fri May 12 22:23:25 2000] HDRV8&8 I almost forgot, I think the secret news that Vno alludes to in his post is that ORB is about to be firewire compatable and move audio data much faster. Jamesgray - [email protected] [Fri May 12 22:23:46 2000] HDRV8&8 I almost forgot, I think the secret news that Vno alludes to in his post is that ORB is about to be firewire compatable and move audio data much faster. I wonder if there is a way to toggle one ORB between two machines? Rich - [email protected] [Sun May 14 12:12:07 2000] HDR6 Mike, I read your post about the cap values. I sent that in last year and I used .01 successfully. I also saw that you needed schematics...I sent to those to VNO last year also. Let me know what you need and I will forward by email if possible. I am very, very interested in your new 18 channel software. I am using three hdr6s and would love to try your software out! You can reach me at [email protected] Mike - [email protected] [Mon May 15 17:58:30 2000] HDR6 Rich, Thanks for the info. VNO sent me a disk with the schematics and the cap values as well as some other things. My plan is to stick the caps in a dedicated set of cables. I figure that way I won't have to disturb the HDR6. As for the software, I now have all controls working on all channels and I can save a snapshot of the settings as well as recall saved settings. I still do not have the transport controls functional yet but I have not had a chance to work on it lately. I also want to spend some time enlarging the control knobs to make them a little easier to "grab ahold of". The program is kind of large right now(about 7M) so I will also be looking for some ways to streamline the code more. I will keep the group informed. Happy Hardisking. Jamesgray - incarnation32@nospamhotmail [Mon May 15 21:44:03 2000] 8&v8 Have you noticed how easy it is to accidently post twice? jason poff - [email protected] [Wed May 17 11:26:05 2000] hdr8 I am new to the hdr 8, and am trying to record to tracks 1 and 2 from the digital input. The levels are clipping horribly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Kelly - [email protected] [Mon May 22 09:41:02 2000] HDR-6 & HDR-V8 Anyone know why my 6 and 8 eventually display different clock times on the front when ran together? (both at 44.1) Also, anyone know of any control software available for running and controlling the 6 and 8 at the same time? I already have the MP-8 and MP-8 software.... looking for something better. - Kelly Kelly - [email protected] [Mon May 22 10:10:53 2000] HDR-6 & V8 Correction: I already have the MP-6 & MP-8 software... need something better.. Also, anyone else ever have trouble loading a backup DAT from a HDR-6 to a HDR-V8? - Kelly Scott - [email protected] [Tue May 23 01:43:11 2000] HDR6,8,V8, MX1 Hi you guys! Kelly, the HDR6 and V8 have different operating systems. I found it best to have the HDR6 act as the master and have the V8 for the slave(s).This also gives you the ability to punch in with a footswitch on the V8 (using the punch on the HDR6). The operating system on the V8 is supposed to be 3 times faster than on the HDR6 or HDR8. The numbers are off on my machines, when synced, too. But the HDR6 and the regular ol' HDR8 numbers sync perfectly...By the way, did you try hooking up the V8 as the master and the HDR6 as the slave? When I did this a lot of BAD things happened.Like it sounded like crap!*** jamesgray - [email protected] [Tue May 23 21:09:45 2000] HDR8&v8 I have my HDR8 for sale, I just put in the new bios (and have a spare new one also) and have purchased a 10gig hard drive for it (the bios only recognizes 8.5 gigs. Other than that looks like brand new. I want $550 and that will include the shipping within the Continental US, Includes brand new bios, hard drive and a copy of the manual. I am not selling my V8, but basically taking a little loss here to help pay for the repair of my other machine. James Kelly - [email protected] [Wed May 24 04:37:20 2000] 6 & V8 "By the way, did you try hooking up the V8 as the master and the HDR6 as the slave? When I did this a lot of BAD things happened.Like it sounded like crap!***" - Scott -------------------------------------------------- Actually Scott, I got that result while running the 6 as a master while feeding 2 tracks at a time from the 6 to the V8 (as a slave). I had to do this since the V8 refused to load a few songs that were originaly backed up from a 6 to DAT. Anyhow, I was livid at first as I listened to the V8 skip bits. However, I found that once the V8 was placed back on internal clock, it performed as normal. Go figure... I'm not sure I have tried the other way around yet... I'll give that a try as well.. - Kelly Scott - [email protected] [Wed May 24 06:14:09 2000] HDR6,8,V8,MX-1 Hey James, thats very interesting news, that you got 8.5 gigs out of the HDR8. Was it a Maxtor? What brand was it? Has anyone had any success like this using the HDR6? Seems I tried a Maxtor in a HDR6 (8.4 gig) and it wouldnt work. But it does work in the V8! Havent tried it yet in the HDR8.***Hey Kelly, so did the tracks load correctly from the HDR6 to the V8, filling tracks 1-6 on the V8? Did you compare the audio of the 2, using the same program material? Hmmm it IS strange that the numbers dont match up on the clock...But yet they do seem to be interchangable, for the most part. L8ter CS7 Jamesgray - [email protected] [Thu May 25 23:21:22 2000] v8 and 8 I have a Maxtor and Western Digital brand new hard drives. The designer of the Vestax told me that you can get 8.4 gig out of the bios, so I guess I used a little liberty to say it was 8.5 gig, the difference being .1gig. I am still waiting for my v8 from Canada and bought the 2 WD HD for the V8 and am willing to put in the Maxtor for the HDR8. The Hard drive and bios could not be more new. Still using the old drive at present and am waiting for buyer before installing new hard drive Kelly - [email protected] [Sat May 27 02:02:43 2000] 6 & V8 *Hey Kelly, so did the tracks load correctly from the HDR6 to the V8, filling tracks 1-6 on the V8? Did you compare the audio of the 2, using the same program material? Hmmm it IS strange that the numbers dont match up on the clock...But yet they do seem to be interchangable, for the most part. L8ter CS7 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The audio was identical once they were no longer slave/master. I passed them over two tracks at a time via SPDIF. I went through all this just so I could use the enhanced Eq section of the V8 as well as the fact that it (V8) locked up better to the MP-8 software. This also allowed me to use tracks 7 & 8 as mix down tracks. I just wish that there was a version of the MP-8 software for the V8 instead of the 8 only. The MP-8 software does not have matching Eq. access on screen for the V8. Letís all complain about this! - Kelly Jamesgray - [email protected] [Mon May 29 11:39:54 2000] HDR8 and V8 The HDR8 is no longer for sale. I will be recording a live concert of "Magical Strings" this is a nationally known group best known in the New Age kind of music, really they are celtic inspired acoustic harp and string musicians. This will also be my first live recording. I am planning to hook the HDR8 to the PA mixer and the V8 to some stereo mike pair (coincedent pair),This has been my home studio, but you never know when it can be pressed into service. I am putting one 10 gig hard drive in the hdr8 and 2- 10gig HD in the V8. They will be in sync. I have a good tube mike. So basically 2- stereo pairs on musicians and ambiant, feed from PA and spot miking lead intrument and we will see what happens. They want me to individually mike, but this is in a big church and they are not rock and roll. |
