ABOUT HDRC

HDRC (Hard Disc Recording Community) Is a worldwide network of recording users who utilize the Hard drive as the sole recording medium. With the use of this site, the HDRC was intended to educate users of many levels of experience how to get the best of their recordings and recorders through the use of networking ideas and techniques to make their systems operate as efficiently as possible. Here you will find groundbreaking information, techniques, products and ideas to benefit your existing recording situation.

Founded in 1998 by Alvino "VNO" Thomas the HDRC was formed out of frustration from the lack of support Vestax had available. With the help of some friends and a hand full of online HDR owners the HDRC was committed to delivering other users of the Vestax HDR series the techniques and tips to get the most out of their units and produce better recordings. Also being that Vetsax who manufactured and distributed the machines discontinued their support for the HDR series somewhere around 1997.

Though the HDRC keeps an association with the designer of the Vestax HDR units. Designer John Paul Bertsch runs a small operation in Canada known as Bertsch Electronics and has his own line of HDR's but barely has American representation. With this being the situation, the HDRC became the ONLY official third party support group site for the Vestax HDR in the world.

After about 5 months of being online the founder discovered a new concept of employing exclusively a removable hard drive for the HDR. After researching many drives he came across a new company called Castlewood systems and approached the company with his concept of using the company's latest MR technology product, the ORB.

Castlewood was wanting to tap into the A/V market, but now found the person who all ready had the concept laid out. Thus starting the new relationship between Castlewood systems and the HDRC. With this new relationship of the HDR and the ORB removable drives, many users inside and outside the HDR community are following the new cost efficient trend of using removable digital media. Because of the worldwide exposure through the Internet and trade shows the HDRC is growing faster with users of all types of recording configurations.
