Jamesgray - [email protected] [Tue Jun 6 12:50:44 2000] v8 and HDR8 I was looking at the "Musicians Friend" Website. I went to "Recording" and then to "Specials" and they have the Vestax Midi Control for the HDR's on sale for $299. I of course keep beating my gums about the Peavey 1600x and Peavey Studiomix, but thought yaal may be interested in this. James Geoff Waldron - [email protected] [Wed Jun 7 16:45:12 2000] HDR6 This site is really amazing, and here I was sitting in North Carolina thinking that I'm the only one around who actually bought one of these things. My question has two parts: the first part is really rather upsetting, my shuttle wheel has finally just about wore it's little heart out. It still works, but it seems as if the mounting has either broken off or "worn away". I'm in desperate need of a solution to this problem before I lose all usage of this important piece of hardware (I use the MX-1 to control the mixer functions). I also wonder if this has happened to anyone else and what they did to solve this problem (short of shipping the HDR to Canada!). My next and last problem should be much easier for me to solve; I had purchased the input expander card but it seems that my instructions somehow got lost (I bought it 4 years ago but have just gotten around to installing it now! funny, eh?) Is there someone out there among this brilliant contingent of HDRC members who could pass along the installation tips for the input expander card? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Kent - [email protected] [Fri Jun 9 10:51:39 2000] HDR I stumbled across this ad at ebay. I was unaware that Vestax made a 16-track HDR. Does anyone know if there is some truth to this? NEW Vestax 16 Track professional HD recorder http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=353679732 Bob Oleinik - [email protected] [Sat Jun 10 02:18:20 2000] HDR6 HDR-V8 From the sales description, the 16 track consists of 8 tracks and 8 virtual tracks; in other words a V8. Creative advertising I guess. Jamesgray - [email protected] [Sat Jun 10 22:28:11 2000] V8 and 8 I am wondering a couple of things: 1. Is it possible to have 2 hard drives and an orb at the same time on a V8? 2. Can the front panel take a removable hard drive cartridge on the V8? Comment: I do have two new hard drives for my V8, what I think would be cool tho is to have one for main drive and the other to be removable either as a standard removable hard drive or if possible to mount an orb on the interior but assessable thru the front panel. Orbs might be top loading, I dont know. Any thoughts along this line? Kent - [email protected] [Mon Jun 12 12:29:19 2000] HDR-6 I guess I didn't thoroughly read that ebay post. Kent - [email protected] [Mon Jun 12 12:30:58 2000] HDR-6 Geoff, You might want to ask Jim Macdonald ([email protected]) if he wouldn't mind copying his the AD-2 Owner/Installation Manual. I sold him one about two months ago. Kent - [email protected] [Mon Jun 12 12:33:12 2000] HDR-6 For those of you looking to add another HDR-6 to your collection. I am selling one on ebay. CHECK IT OUT. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=354843324 Kent - quent10195 [Mon Jun 12 12:36:23 2000] HDR-6 I still have HDR-6 upgrade EPROM Chips (v.3.04) available. Get them while supplies last. I am selling them at cost ($9.95 ea.) plus $1.50 shipping. Email me for details. I have 10 chips left. You never know when a great deal on an old HDR-6 will come. Be prepared. Mike - [Wed Jun 21 10:36:52 2000] HDR6 Hey gang. Well the software has been put on hold for the moment because one of my HDR6's died.I did get the knobs in the software enlarged which makes them alot easier to work with. I am in the process of repairing my dead deck now but I am waiting for a part. I am not 100% sure that this part will fix it but it is the best shot I have right now. The part that seems to be bad is U43 Which is a XC56004 which is a DSP chip from Motorola. Unfortunately it is a surface mout chip so I cannot change it myself and will have to pay someone to do it for me. Till next time, happy hardisking Scott - [email protected] [Wed Jun 21 16:27:53 2000] BORG Hi all! Shite! What a bidding war on ebay, for the mx1s! I saw Jim McDonald on there, then Kent (altough I didnt know it was him at the time) outbid everyone! I tried to outbid him at the last second, only to jack the price of each one up about 80$! OUCH! Sorry Kent! Kind of humorous, except that he only really wanted one, and I'm buying the other from him when he gets it, so I just screwed us both out of about 80$!*@###! Hey I got another V8! Now I have 10 machines! I think there should be a 12 step group for this sort of thing!!!!Bertsch still has my 2nd V8 I sent in over a month ago! Its been a while, hope they get the lead out!!! I'm working on making all my machines with removable external hard drives, and or orbs(orbs for the gray machines, mostly I think). Hopefully I will accomplish all this, soon, and be able to do some Mongo recording!!!!!! Peace out Dudes!!!!Party On! Scott LSD - [email protected] [Wed Jun 21 16:50:27 2000] Emu Darwin I have 2 Darwin 8 track HD recorders both with the internal SCSI Orb drive, and I'm curious about your MS enclosures. I would like to know if they are available in a SCSI version. 2nd... I would like to know if the enclosure has individual external SCSI connectors to address each Dawin. I like what I've read about the MS enclosures, and I would like to know how the could work (or if they can work) with 2 Darwin 8trk recorders. LSD... Mike - [Wed Jun 21 21:56:37 2000] HDR6 Amen on the MX-1 bidding Scott. It wasn't all your fault. I had a piece of that action too. Still waiting for my part for my deck. Happy hardisking. Mike roger - [email protected] [Fri Jun 23 13:16:41 2000] HDR-6 I need some work done on my HDR-6 is there anyone in Texas(Houston)who can fix them? Mike - [Fri Jun 23 21:41:19 2000] HDR6 Well I got my part put in and I still have a dead deck. This was a $60 learning experience. I now have another hunch as to what the problem is. Unfortunately it appears to be an eprom(not the ever popular V3.04). If this is the case, then it would need to be programmed and I don't have the slightest idea where I can get that done. It might be time to turn this one into a parts machine. Kind of a tough thing to do since it is my "first deck" you know, the one I payed the most money for! If anyone has any helpfull info, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! Happy !@#$%# Hardisking. Mike Mike - [Fri Jun 23 21:44:38 2000] HDR6 P.S. Has anyone had any luck emailing Berstch? I have tried twice now and I get no response. I guess as an Vestax owner I should be used to this by now.Mike Scott - [email protected] [Sat Jun 24 02:27:20 2000] Hi Guys, I heard you could send your hdr6 to Bertsch and theyd fix it for 60$, or something like that. CALL Bertsch (email doesnt seem to work) at the phone # listed at their web site, and which can be found elsewhere in the POST IT Archives.......The cost to send/recieve it to Bertsch will be approximately 100$, including fees....... John - [email protected] [Tue Jun 27 22:56:06 2000] Akai dr8 I just bought a scsi drive orb and I'm hoping I can use it to back up my dr8. Has anyone tried this? Any helpful info would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike - [Wed Jun 28 11:13:53 2000] HDR6 Hey gang. I just spoke with my insurance agent and since the damage to my deck was caused by lightning, I can get a replacement. The repair shop in town that put the new chip in for me said that they would give it it's official" last rights". This means that if all goes well, I should be ordering a new HDREQ8-24 from Bertsch very shortly. Great, now I have to rewrite my software. Oh well.I talked to Mr Bertsch for the first time yesterday. Very helpful and easy to talk to. To bad that he has to be located in Canada. Happy hardisking. Mike |
