Chris Milanko [[email protected]] Sun Aug 8 12:43:17 1999 Hi, I am wondering what I am doing wrong with my HDRV8. Every time I merge some track(s) ... the merged track has more gain and as a result, the signal hits red. Any suggestions? Thanks vno [[email protected]] Mon Aug 9 00:10:40 1999 Hey gang, the update is on the way. But along the way we came up with a new way to coolscotts idea of external IDE hook up for those who do not wish to open up the HDRs everytime (I don't blame ya). Its very cool looking but it works. we will let you know on the update. Rico [you know....] Mon Aug 9 00:35:12 1999 Hey gang, this was something I found on the web. Maybe some one can vibe off this. The HDR digital audio data is not stored in any PC compatible formats (.WAV or others). In order to get the audio into your PC, you must have a sound card that will let you transfer audio (CardD Plus, for example, allows SP/DIF digital audio into your PC 2 or 4 tracks at a time). Once in the song is in your PC, you won't be able to edit, etc, and send it back to the HDR. Realistically, transferring to PC is done to MASTER the work. Each song can be stored on floppy in your PC for later re-mixes, etc. Scott [[email protected]] Mon Aug 16 04:16:06 1999 I found a deal on a 27.2 Gig hard drive for 293$ @ http://www.beyond.com/PKIN015151/prod.htm Anyone interested in 13.5 hours of recording time? Scott [[email protected]] Wed Aug 18 15:16:30 1999 If the above mentioned Maxtor Ultra DMA 27.2 gig hard drive works with our machines, why not try and rig it so we can remove them? Maybe an external eide and power connector? Then we'd be paying about $10.80 per gigabyte of storage versus about 15$ per gig with the orb cartridges. And Im sure hard drives will continue to get bigger and cheaper. Just a thought... Anyone feeling adventurous? Some months back (like MANY months) I sent my HDR-6 to Dean for a software upgrade so I could use the 2.1G HD. There was nothing else wrong with it. After many (like 8-10) months, I haven't seen it again. It makes it REALLY hard to do good recordings without a recorder. Please, someone, HELP. If you know how to contact DEAN, let me know. If he still has my recorder, I want it back, along with the HD I sent to be installed. I am getting a bad feeling about the whole thing. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Scott [[email protected]] Sun Aug 29 06:24:15 1999 Hi People! I have 2 things to add tonight! 1)What is this persons resume doing on this forum? Can someone please delete it? Thanks! 2)The case of the missing HDR6. The same thing happened to me last year.I sent a hdr6 in for service under warranty, months went by and I heard nothing. Those fun-loving folks at Vestax would not return my calls, emails, and faxes, for months. I spent over a hundred dollars in long distance calls to California and Tokyo.I finally filed complaints with the Better business Bureau and the California Attorney Generals Office. Only then did they send a replacement, as they "lost" my original machine. I can not make you understand the extent of the bullshit Dean and co. put me through! Funny thing how shortly thereafter Dean packs up and moves to Colorado. Ive met several other people who have had similar problems, including one who tried to get the cops in Colorado on their case. Now I hear that Dean is done, and theyre moving the "support" operation down to Hollywood Florida. I called down there and the person I talked to had never seen an HDR. Supposedly all the stuff from Colorado was to be shipped to Florida. Its been several weeks and the shipment has not arrived. I was given the name of the new tech, in Florida. His name is Mike and his # is 954-566-2997 Bill Wade [[email protected]] Mon Aug 30 18:35:06 1999 Before any of you who are trying to contact the NEW and IMPROVED Vestax repair place in Florida call the OLD number they changed it. Now the number is 954-567-1419. Dan johnson [[email protected]] Tue Aug 31 01:21:41 1999 Mon.Aug 30th 10:20 1999 I just installed a new drive in a HDR-V8. It installed fine, and formatted fine. But, now when I record, I can see it on the bar-graphs but I don't get any audio out of the directs, the buss, or even the headphone outs. Has anybody else already solved this problem? Am I missing something simple? And, no, the channels are not muted. Any help out there? Thanks. |
