The New Concept
Himalayan Chain Village Trip
is a Nepali owned and run organization with a new and innovative way of bringing the beauty and magnificent diversity of Nepal and her peoples to the rest of the world. We feel that there are many unexplored and unspoiled areas in this Himalayan Kingdom that are still waiting to be discovered. Himalayan Chain Village Trip has opened a new door by reaching out to the local communities and villages and involving the people in our business. Thus we are trying to help support and improve the economy here in our own small way.

Nepal is a country steeped in rich Culture, Traditions and Religions. From the world highest snow capped peaks to the plains of the grassy Terai, this country has an enormous amount to offer both the new and returning visitor.

We would like to encourage you to explore and discover what we are offering that others are not. By working this way, we are able to contribute a portion of our proceeds to the local Village Community Projects that assist Women and Children organizations in the remote areas of Nepal. This way you can feel heart of Nepal and Nepalese.

Nepal is a country comprised of a large variety of interesting villages, peoples, communities and natural areas of unmatched beauty. Villages are scattered over many regions and the landscapes vary as much as the people who inhabit them. For those wanting to learn about the real Nepal and her People this is where you should being your search.

The Northern and Eastern mountain ranges are dotted with Sherpa, Tamang and Rai villages whereas the Central hill regions house the Gurung, Magar, Brahmin, Chhetri , Thakuri and Newar peoples. The Southern Terai plains are home to the Tharu, Dhimal , Sattar and Rasputhere groups and these are only a few of the many peoples that make up the rich cultural diversity of Nepal. Each area and village offer their own unique traditions, languages, foods, festivals, cultural dress, history, dance and music.

Offering something new, we have set up a selection of flexible package trips that take you right to the heart of some of these villages where you will spend time enjoying, learning and living with the Nepali people.

Classic Village Trip 16 Days:
GORKHA DISTRICT: (CENTRAL NEPAL)
The Gorkha District is an area well known to many both here and abroad for its rich history and exceptional Gorkha soldiers. Located in the central part of Nepal this hilly region was home to the late King Prithive Naranaya Shah. His rule began in Gorkha and from there he created what is now the present day Nepal. The latest King of Nepal is the 11th generation of King Prithive Naranaya Shahs.

Gorkha is easily accessible to the visitor by a main road which connects to the district head quarters. Here one will see some spectacular views off in the distance (weather permitting) of the Himalayan Mountain Peaks, including Manasalu, the famous Annapurna Range, and Langtang. From this point, trails branch off leading towards different villages in the area, and one will pass through lush green jungles and hills sprinkled with flowers. Gorkha is an excellent place to do bird watching.
Early in the morning and later in the afternoon one should take the time to experience the magnificent sunrises and sunsets over the mountains. It will be a life time memory. The largest ethnic groups that populate this area are mainly the Gurung, Magar, Brahmain and Newaris. Each group has it's own unique language, food, dance, music, customs and traditions and yet even with so much diversity the people live side by side in harmony and still retain their individuality.

The Gurung and Magar people two main religions (as with most of Nepal) are Hinduism and Buddhism and the local languages are called Gurung and Magar. Specialty foods prepared during the festival times include Sell Roti, (a donut shaped bread) Gundruk (a dried vegetable dish) and Khole (a thick soup containing meat). Throughout the remained of the year the national dish is Dal Bhat (a combination of rice, lentil soup, assorted vegetables, pickles, curd and sometimes meat). Weddings, births, deaths and religious occasions are presided over by either a Lama (Monk) for those of the Buddhist faith or a Pandit for those following the Hindu faith.
There are many villages in Nepal where you can visit.

You should smile more!
