| RedBaron has been sold! (updated Mar. 15, 2004) |
| RedBaron is a 1978 MB 200G. It was acquired from the previous owner (PO) back in March 1996. I believe the previous owner was the first owner (asked around to the shop that used to service this vehicle), and that he rarely used the car. It used to be his Sunday (golf) car and that at the time we acquired it, it had only less than 50,000KM on its odometer. (Well, one can say that the odometer was tampered, I dont know if this one was) Upon acquisition, the car was covered in red color all the way. Turns out the PO was a Chinese in love with the color red. (I think in Chinese tradition Red brings good luck?) It had red on its grill, the side mirrors were red, the fins on the headlights, with matching red blinkers between the SEC look-alike grill, and plates covered in red electrical tape. These were promptly removed or brought back to their original look, except for the SEC grill.. hehehe... (can't say much for the plates though). It was my daily car back in college and accumulated almost twice the trip it had before. Right now, it has 138,000+KM on its odometer. In 1998, it was relegated to a back-up car, due to rising oil prices without a corresponding rice in my school allowance. Then in the mddle of 2001, I decided to bring it back to daily use due to a previous mishap that happened to my daily car (Honda City) Below is the way it looks at the time it was a backup car. The car is not for sale anymore. Sorry. I decided to continue its restoration. |
