| I do not live alone! I have two sons: Andrew is 23, and is now studying at the University of Delaware to become a high school science teacher; he will also finish a degree in anthropology and biology. He graduated from McKean High School, and is a runner. Nick is 18, and is a freshman at UD. He is studying excercise physiology. Nick wants to train elite athletes. He just graduated from A. I. duPont, where he played euphonium in the Tiger Band, was on the Science Olympiad team, and played lacrosse for A.I. My husband, Charles, and I met a long time ago in a science class at AIHS. We live in Hockessin on an old farm property. I grew up in North Star; my family moved there in 1962. I have always loved science. In 1958 I got a subscription to National Geographic Magazine for Christmas from my Aunt Jane. There were articles on volcanoes and oceanography--I was hooked! My sister, Anne, lives in Seattle, Washington. Check out the links below on places I love to visit! |
| I am a very busy, enthusiastic person! > I love teaching, I love kids, and I love working at H. B. > I am a storyteller and a collector of rocks, minerals, and fossils. I belong to a local storytelling group and to the Delaware Mineralogical Society. I love crafts, especially knitting. > I love to travel! I have been to Greece (with Mrs. Tash), to Italy, and to Canada. My idea of a great summer vacation would be to spend the whole summer taking one trip after another. > My family has been going to the same island in Maine almost every summer since 1982. The island is in the middle of Penobscot Bay, and you have to get there by ferry boat. I would like to live in Maine, somewhere near the coast. > My son, Nick, and I travel to Arizona & the Grand Canyon. We love canyons, deserts, mountains, and the geology of this place that is totally different from Delaware! On our 2nd visit, at Sunset Crater, just north of Flagstaff, we could see three different types of volcanoes: cinder cone, dome, and strata. Across the valley, on the other side of Mt. Humphrey, an ancient strata volcano, and the highest peak in Arizona, lay several shield volcanoes. Four different volcanoes all in the same place! WOW! To my way of thinking, it doesn't get much better than that! |
