By Will DeConto Contibutions from Matt on Pre-1993 information Edited by Matt 1992 - Tom Ferris puts out a wanted ad in a Seattle newspaper for a singer to sing on a series of electronica tracks. Trevor Hurst answers the call and the seeds of Econoline Crush are formed. - Hack, Dan Yaremko and Gregg Leask also join the band (?) - Band plays first show. - Robbie Morfitt comes aboard. - Band relocates from Seattle to Vancouver. - Band plays a number of local shows in Vancouver. (Dates Unconfirmed) - Tom Ferris leaves the group to pursue other musical ventures, over creative differences with Trevor Hurst on the band's direction. 1993 - Band tours locally in Vancouver, across Canada and possibly in Seattle. - November 16 1993, Econoline Crush began work on its debut record, Purge. It is a 6 song EP, which features Cruel World, a song that would also be remixed for the next album. They finish recording the album on November 24th. They record the album in the famed Greenhouse Studios outside of Vancouver. Dale Penner produces the album. 1994 - Purge is released. (I have found no release date for the album) - Econoline Crush is nominated for a Juno Award in the category of Best New Hard Rock act. A big honour for an indie band. - T.D.M (Trevor's Death Metal) is released as a single and a video is released. - Band toured in support of the EP. - Hack leaves the band. - The band settles down back in Vancouver to work on their follow up to Purge, 1995�s Affliction. Keyboardist and programmer, Rhys Fulber produces the record. He gives the band a very dark, ambient and unsettling sound. - Band records Affliction during September and October of 1994 at East Van Dusen Studios. The remixed Cruel World is recorded at Machine Works Studios in West Vancouver, in December of 1994. Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering Studios mixes the album in Portland, Maine. 1995 - In late Febuary/early March, the video for Nowhere Now is released. - March 21st 1995, Affliction is released in Canada. - Later in that same year, the video for Wicked is released - Band tours in support of Affliction. 1996 - Close is released as a single and video. This is the last video released from Affliction. - Ziggy Sigmund joins the band. - February 1996, Nettwerk America releases Affliction to the US Market. - Band finishes up touring and begins pre-production on what will be their greatest record to date, The Devil You Know - Rhys Fulber leaves the band. (Unknown exact date) - Gregg Leask leaves the band. (Unknown exact date) - Robert Wagner joins the band. - Dan Yaremko leaves the band but helps write a majority of the songs with Trevor and Robbie. - Don Binns comes in to replace Yaremko for the forthcoming album. He promptly leaves and is replaced by Ken Fleming after the TDYK sessions. - Band begins work on The Devil You Know with Sylvia Massy, who produced, mixed and recorded the album for the band. The album is recorded in 3 locations: Sound City in Van Nuys, California, Hipposonic in Vancouver and Master Control Recording in Burbank, CA. 1997 - Bob Ludwig in Portland, Maine masters the album. - May 1997, the band films the video for the first single, Home. Both a Canadian and American version are filmed. - June 3rd 1997, The Devil You Know is released. The album was well received by fans and critics alike. - The band began a tour with fellow Canadian rockers, The Tea Party. This would begin the three long years worth of touring to support the album. - Robert Wagner and Ken Fleming left the band sometime after the release of The Devil You Know. - Thom Christiansen joins the band to replace Ken Fleming. - Niko Quintal joins the band as a drummer to replace Robert Wagner. - September 1997, band films the video for All That You Are [x3]. One is for the album version and the other is for the techno remix by The Boomtang Boys. The remix gives the band an added boost in interest and sales. - By December, the remix of All That You Are propelled the band to a number two standing on the Muchmusic Countdown. That would sadly be the highest standing they would ever achieve on that station. - Band opens for Kiss in Vancouver, and continues to tour with them playing such arenas as Madison Square Garden. 1998 - The band films the last real video from the album, Sparkle and Shine - March 24th 1998, The Devil You Know is released in the US through Restless Records. Home is released only weeks earlier. The video gets very poor play on MTV. - The Devil You Know is nominated for Best Rock Album but loses to Our Lady Peace. - Along with such bands as The Tea Party, Matt Good Band, Hole, Green Day and the Foo Fighters, Econoline Crush joins the popular Edgefest tour in Canada. - The Devil You Know goes Platinum in Canada with 100,000 sales. - Band tours with fellow industrial act Stabbing Westward state-side. John Haro meets and befriends the band. - Razorblades and Bandaides is released as a radio single. - Thom Christiansen leaves the band sometime in late November. - Dan Yaremko rejoins the band after a stint as the bassist for Bif Naked in December. 1999 - Surefire is released as a single. - Band stops touring. - Robbie Morfitt leaves the band after a lengthy legal dispute. He forms Morning Maker. - John Haro joins the band. - Recording for the single You Don�t Know What It�s Like begins in Hawaii with legendary producer, Bob Rock. 2000 - Surefire is released as a single in the US and a low quality video is created. - Band step out of the spotlight to start work on their new album. - Band begins work on Brand New History with Bob Rock and John Travis. The album is recorded in numerous locations; Vortex in Burbank, Hard Drive in North Hollywood, Mad Dog in Burbank, Full Kilt in North Hollywood, Plantation Studios in Maui and Scream Studios in Studio City. - Band finishes album sometime near the end of the year. 2001 - Video for Make It Right is filmed in Early 2001. - March 27th 2001, Brand New History is released in Canada. - May 15th 2001, Brand New History is released in the US. - Album is not well received and critics slam the album for being �too poppy�. - Spring 2001 the band tours on the bill of the MuchLoud tour. The tour is not well received. - May I Go is remixed and released as a happy-go-lucky version to pop stations with little fanfare. - A tour with The Cult is cancelled after the lead singer clashes with Trevor Hurst over the production of Make It Right (which involved band members of The Cult). - Restless Records closes down. The band is left with no US record label. - Econoline Crush plays its last show at UBC Pit Pub in Late 2001. - By years� end, Econoline Crush is disbanded. ............................................................................... 2006 - June 14th, Trevor Hurst announces through his Hurst myspace page that he will start work on a NEW EC ALBUM, with an at the time undisclosed lineup. - December The new Econoline Crush tour across Canada for the first time in 5 years. Dan Yaremko is confirmed as rejoining the band, albeit only briefly. 2007 - The line-up of the new EC settles and continues to play various gigs across Canada. - January - the band tours through Ontario supporting Hinder. - April - the band tours Western Canada with the first chance to play new songs since the release of Brand New History. - July - Trevor and band start making regular contributions to their EC Myspace blog, and confirm that they are recording new material at Radiostar Studios in Weed, California. Sylvia Massey, who famously worked on EC's most popular album to date, The Devil You Know, is back on board to produce the new record. - October - Recording finishes. - November - The new single Dirty is released via the band's myspace and promptly goes to radio stations across Canada. They also confirm that they have booked shows in the new year touring with fellow Canadian rockers 3 Days Grace and South African lineup Seether. - December - Confirmation that the new cd (titled IGNITE) will hit stores in mid January is given.
