The new cd cover is rather symbolic, with a phoenix rising out of the flames below surely representing the re-birth of the band.
Keeping with the re-birth theme, there is something new about the sound, something that has been picked up and added to the songs since EC's last effort Brand New History.
The most evident place you will find this is in the intro to Psychotic...which could easily be the intro to any one of a number of Justin Timberlake or Gwen Stefani songs.
And it WORKS! Listening to the new EC songs sounds familiar and edgy all at once. It's hard to narrow it down to just one riff or sample in one or two songs...it sounds like a fresh attitude and approach to playing the music.
