About Annie

Annie is a muscular, exceptionally attractive, Med- Large (65 lb.) dark chocolate bitch with a wonderful temperament, her attributes as a house dog and companion cannot be overstated. Her attitude towards training is and always has been positive and she is an enthusiastic and exceptionally talented upland bird and water fowl hunter. Annie is a product of the World Famous Trieven Kennels in Medford, Oregon.

In the summer of 1992, I was determined to expend any amount of effort, and spare no expense in finding a pup to replace my thirteen year old black lab, “Lady.”  Lady, a tireless hunter,  was getting on in years.  I bought a black lab pup in September, 1991, that was showing excellent promise as a hunter, but left a lot to be desired as a house dog.  She was very high strung.  I sold this pup early in the summer of 1992.  The rest of the summer, I traveled around the Northwest looking for a pup that would posses natural talent, a high degree of trainability, and whose parents showed an intense desire to bond with and please their master.  I personally inspected many dogs before deciding to place a deposit with Trieven Kennels, guaranteeing me pick of the next Ann Teak - Hershey litter.  I am happy to say that this transaction represents one of the best investments I have ever made.

At six months of age, Annie was sent out for three months of gun dog training.  She was sent to the World Famous Gonia's McKenna Kennels, in McKenna, Washington (Phone # 206-458-2981).  Gonia's is home kennel of many of the finest field trial Labradors in the world today.  Annie finished her training, scheduled for three months, in just a little over two months.  This saved me almost three hundred dollars in training expense, and left the trainers with a lasting impression of Annie.  For Northwest hunters who plan to send a dog out for training, I can recommend McKenna Kennels without reservation.

By the time Annie's first hunting season was over, I personally shot well over a hundred pheasant and dozens of quail, chucker, and water fowl over her.  This was all before she reached 14 months of age.

Annie's mother, Trieven Ann Teak, is a good looking, blocky, dark chocolate bitch of sixty pounds.  Only an early injury, a broken leg, kept her from a successful field trial career.  Ann Teak is extremely birdy, eager, and very willing to please.  She has several pointing labs in her background, including her mother, Trieven Gambol.

I could write a volume on “Hershey”, but I think that the material I am including says it best.

Annie does on occasion point although she has never been encouraged to point, pointing is not compatible with my personal style of upland hunting. I like to hunt very dense, tall cover and I would not be able to see a dog on point. Annie has produced natural pointing labs when bred to FC-AFC CFC -CAFC Barracuda Blue, CFC-CAFC Pachanga Magnum Force & FC-AFC Dare to Dream (Cosmo).

Annie will be bred only one more time, that will be in the fall of 2000 to FC-AFC Dare to Dream, if you are interested in a pup contact me ASAP. These pups sell EARLY and if you wait you will be out of luck. FIELD TRIAL HOMES WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY ON THIS BREEDING.
