Sometimes Harold can coax Bennie to his glen, but often
she is otherwise engaged.
The plants and animals of this world need help.
They need her help.
How can she refuse them?

Here we see the evil raccoons who live on a
rooftop nearby. After dark they don their masks
and sally forth to work their mischief. They are stealthy
and we can see only their eyes reflecting the
flash. Like the infamous Chinese Gang of Four, there are
five of them. Even though they are often quite destructive, Bennie
will not let Harold be mean to them.
