My Best Friends Wedding _ I
![]()
Everyone came with bouquets, gifts or wishes
I enthusiastically greeted all with hugs and kisses
A song here, a dance there
and cheer, lots of it everywhere
A joyous occasion, a reason to celebrate
My friend was giving up his solitary state
Standing proudly, waiting for the love of his life
The beautiful lady in red, his would be wife
As they stood together, we blew them kisses
While my heart shattered into a thousand pieces
With a smile, I'd just given up my most precious treasure
Without a fight, heart wrenchingly, with a painful pleasure
In her hand she held that hand of his
That hand, which for the rest of my life, I'll miss
His heartfelt talks, his strength and his jokes
Never again will I have any of those
He'd pledged his life to an astounding stranger
I could take it no more, emotions at the threshold of danger
I'd come to say goodbye forever to the reason of my being
To the love of my life, to my best friend on his wedding.
