The Girl Child

I know not why

They rate so high

Boys born to them

Treat them as Gems

The girls they kill in the womb

Create disgraceful fetal tombs

In ignorance of the strength of girls

They let go of such precious pearls

Whether girl or boy

Each child is a joy

If the child loves you

It’ll be theirs and your best virtue

But if you’re shunned by your own blood

Then there’s not hope

For that boy child you can grope

And he’ll sail across the seas

You’ve to fend for yourself

If you’re lucky, your girl elf

That shunned child of yours

Will find in her heart to open her doors

And look after you forevermore……
