Friends

The heart beseeches, the head knows better

There's a new world, beyond our tether

Memories pull you back, to pieces you are torn

And then with time, even they'll be gone

But true friends who are made now

Are ne'er forgotten, you'll ask me how?

'Coz memory, a faculty of the mind

Is like that tape you record 'n rewind

You erase the old, fill in the new

Hence, permanent memories are far and few.

Friends are a part of that heart in you

The old remain and you add the new!
