Haunted by a Live Dog

I wake with a start

Wildly my eyes dart

Looking for the source

Of the howl so hoarse

… of my neighbours dog who haunts me!!

He’s not dead yet

But its my best bet

Like this if he continues to howl every morn

It would shortly be the funeral forlorn

… of my neighbours dog who haunts me!!

I have done some karma*

I remember naught what adharma**

For every morning my slumber to be broken

By the loud raucious barkin’

… of my neighbours dog who haunts me!!

Days turned into weeks and weeks to months

A dog lives for a dozen year length

The thought of prolonged agony ahead

Waking every morning to that sound of dread

… of my neighbours dog who haunts me!!

He came as a puppy many weeks ago

And into a huge dog he has grown

His bark thunders across the street

I can feel the intrusion, I want to retreat

… from my neighbours dog who haunts me!!

I regret becoming vindictive

Of my state of my mind its indicative

I’m willing to harm another creature of God

Instead of tackling the insensitive, callous lord***

… of my neighbours dog who haunts me!!

Lord give me the necessary strength to bear

The haunting barks of my neighbours dear!!

* Karma : deeds

** Adharma : sin

*** I tackled the owners on 23rd October and since then the haunting has ceased J
