HAMA’s work with children (and families) with attention deficit disorders centers around these principles:
- Children feel alienated and abandoned by parents, siblings, teachers and peers.
- ADHD is the most understated and among the most devastating syndromes in child development, which, if left untreated, or worse yet, treated with ignorance, anger, aggressive frustration, and neglect, can lead to a serious conduct disorder and in severe cases to the development of an anti-social disorder.
- The victims are not only the affected children, but the parents, siblings, peers and teachers. Everyone feels that they have failed, and no one more feels the shame and anger and pain than the child and his parents.
- Our ADHD child parent support groups are very successful in providing long term strategies in relatively short and defined treatment plans.
- Parents and children learn how to cope with impulsive behavior, chaotic disorganization, anger, frustration, inability to remember, to concentrate, and to focus on the tasks of learning, socializing and emotionally understanding and communicating needs
