Halton Association of Co-ordinators of Volunteer Services is a grassroots organization which embodies staff and volunteers in any capacity, with responsibility for managing volunteers. As such, the organization appeals to volunteer managers at every level and with varied degrees of expertise in managing volunteers. We have members who have been doing their jobs for many years and have varied experience with all aspects of volunteer management from planning, recruitment, selection, training, appreciation and documentation to members who have just be assigned the job of managing volunteers with little or no training for this most important activity, as well as many levels in between.

Members who are new to their job, might appreciate having a few people to turn to with questions, people who might have suggestions for handling certain situations, etc. It is the intention of this Mentoring Program to provide a method for members; new and not so new; to access the hidden wealth of knowledge that is held within our membership.

One of the mandates of our HACVS is to provide training/education to our membership. Only so many topics can be covered in workshops, and workshops planned are not always timely if you have a question or concern that needs to be handled immediately. The Mentoring Program is not meant to replace the annual workshops that the Executive plan, but to augment it by providing access to talented people who are willing to share what they know about the many different facets of volunteer management.

If you are interested in being listed as a mentor, please contact Sharon Bee at [email protected]
