From the moment that Katie Colum O'hara was born, she knew that she was loved. Scarlett spent hours with her just looking her over to make sure she was real. And Katie loved the attention. She soon earned the nickname Kat, not only to differenciate between the two Katies, but also for her fasination with the stray cats that drank the milk that Katie left out for them on the front porch, where Scarlett and Katie would sit on warm Spring afternoons.
It was on such an occasion that Scarlett recieved the visitor that would have a profound impact on the rest of her life in Ireland. He was an old man from an area of Ireland which was titled Dansboro, when he arrived he appeared to be very tired and very hungry. He offered Scarlett an invitation to the exlusive Dansboro ball in exchange for room and board for one night. Such an invitation caught Scarlett's intrest at once, as she remember her younger days as belle of every ball.
"What exactly is the Dansboro ball?"
"It's just the best and most exclusive ball in all of Ireland. It happens every spring at the King's palace. The King of Dansboro that is. Everyone who goes gets to meet him, personally as I have every year since I was a young lad."
"And I have an invitation?"
"Yes, now you do. All you need is a dress, or is it ball-gown?"
"Hmmm, I see. Well thank you, sir for such an invitation."
"Oh but it is only right, to offer such a gift to such a wonderful hostess. Not every woman would open her house to a complete stranger." said the old man, looking over to Katie who had been completely against the idea.
Shortly after the old man went to bed, Scarlett opened the envelope holding her invitation to look it over one more time, before she went to bed. The invitation was on light pink and yellow paper, so smooth it felt like silk, with the words written in gold calligraphy.

Scarlett practically squealed with delight. It had been so long since she had been anywhere as special as a ball, espeically one as exculsive and special as this one. She could barely wait for the May 15th!
