On a cold winter's morning in mid November, Cathy awoke to find herself in intense abdominal cramps. She woke up Sean who rushed over to Scarlett's house to inform Katie, that the baby was on it's way. As desperately as Scarlett wanted to be by Cathy's side, Katie reminded her that her baby was due any day, and that she was not to leave her bed. Katie left her with some cool water, and promised that she would come back as soon as she could. Katie rode over to Sean's house, took one look at Cathy and informed Sean that they still had a while. She sent him to Maureen's house to fetch someone to stay with Scarlett for the day, as well as to tell them of the news.
Later that evening, after a lot of pain and frustration, Cathy's baby boy was born. He was a little small for Katie's liking, but he was beautiful nonetheless. They named him Patrick, after the great saint of Ireland, which simply thrilled the entire family.
About a week later, Scarlett awoke in the middle of the night to the same sort of abdominal pain. Hers was so intense that she woke up screaming, with a worried Katie above her shaking her shoulders. "Calm down Scarlett, you'll be alright." Katie took care of everything for Scarlett, guiding her through each contraction, and then through the actual birth. Scarlett had never had a doctor do any better than Katie had done for her. The entire time, Scarlett prayed to God that it would be a baby girl. That was all she wanted in her entire life was for her baby to be a girl. And when the moment came, a screaming baby girl emerged from Scarlett's womb. Scarlett had never been so happy in all her life, she felt like she could fly, and tears of joy feel down her face as she looked at her beautiful baby girl: Katie Colum O'hara.
