Georgetown Toastmasters is a nonprofit educational group affiliated with Toastmasters International. Founded in 1924, Toastmasters International has more than 211,000 members in 10,500 clubs in 90 countries and is the largest nonprofit public speaking organization in the world.
Georgetown Toastmasters became chartered in 2002 and currently boasts a membership of about 20-25 members all dedicated to improving their public speaking and leadership skills. Members include students and staff of
Georgetown University, as well as Georgetown alumni and community members. Each meeting is structured to provide a well-rounded speaking experience for both beginning speakers and those wishing to fine-tune their
presentation skills. Members gain experience in speaking (impromtu and prepared), in addition to presenting evaluations of fellow participants.
