EXPERIENCE (Industrial)

  • Worked on an automated radio system-INFOSTATION (ppt, pdf)based on Windows CE 5.0 that harvests information from the internet using web services and processes it locally to give the final output as speech in local language on FM radio. This system was awarded the second prize at the International Microsoft Windows Embedded Student Challenge held at Microsoft Redmond.
  • Worked as a trainee with CMC (A Tata enterprise), deployed at HUDCO, Corporate office, India Habitat Center, New Delhi. Used TNG Unicenter for network management and Solaris 8.0 CDE for routing definitions.
  • Worked as a Beta Tester for PC Quest- a well known IT Magazine in Asia.

PROJECTS:

Bachelors in Engineering:

  • Microsoft Windows Embedded Student Challenge:

Headed the college team in the competition and worked on building an automated radio system-INFOSTATION that transmits data extracted from web-services, passes it through an expert system, converts it into speech and transmits it over the FM (frequency modulated wave). The Windows CE custom image was built using WinCE Platform Builder, the expert system as a smart device application in C# and the text to speech application written in native code in eMbedded Visual C++ on MFC 4.0. The applications and the OS image were deployed on eBox, a small hardware reference board based on x86 architecture. A total of 300 teams from the world participated in the competition and 30 teams were called to Redmond. Out of these 30, we stood 2nd globally.
