Presidents Report

After a turbulent and difficult period a couple of months ago, the society is running smoothly and happily again. Unfortunately 7 members of the previous management felt they had to resign in the best interests of the society. The Society greatly appriciates their hard work over the years. A big thank you to all the volunteers who put in extra hours to keep the hospital running smoothly.

A new management team was voted in at a Special General Meeting on the 14th September and ratified at the General meeting on the 16th November.

The new management team consists of::
President; John Barber.
Vice President; Les Gregson.
Treasurer; Herb King.
Secretary; Ian Parsley.
Habitat; Chris Rowland.
Communications; Carol Blecha.
Education; Carl Christie.
Hospital Co-ordinator; Joyce Westoby

Speaking for the new committee, we will do our utmost to keep the Society running in a democratic and happy way with the preservation of our Koalas and their habitat always being our most important objective. Chris is looking for assistance with habitat, it is so important that we try to keep and plant trees for our furry friends, any way tha you can help will make a difference.

Fundraising

We need someone to take up this essential position! It is not as hard as used to be, Barbara is now doing an excellent job with adopt-a-wild-koala ( please note the new permanent email address for adoptions [email protected] )

Education

Since the meeting unforseen circumstances have also seen Carl Christie having to relinquish the position of Education Officer. Any person interested in either of these positions please contact me for details.

As 2003 comes to an end and we are thinking of Christmas and holidays, the hospital still keeps running. If any volunteers are not able to do their shifts please let Cheyne or your team leader know. If you have some spare time, any extra shifts you can do would be greatly appreciated.

Finally I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

John Barber

President
