| Constructed in late 18th century the Castle (Garh) of Jhalamand is situated just on the outstrike of Jodhpur on the Udaipur - Ahmedabad highway, surrounded by village Jhalamand. The family belong to the Sisodia clan of Mewar (Udaipur) and shifted to Marwar (Jodhpur) in mid 18th century. They are the descendents of the famous warrior Maharana Pratap of Chittor Garh (Mewar). The Jagir of Jhalamand was granted to Thakur Gambhir Singh Ji Sahib for outstanding services rendered to the Jodhpur state. This gives a unique blend to the property, as it combines the best of both cultures - the architechtural brilliance of Mewar coupled with the unmatchable traditional hospitality of Marwar.
