Brief Course Description This course is designed to be an introduction to the concepts of the Internet and web page design. Topics covered include: the history of the Internet, an introduction to the Internet, Internet regulations, HTML, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, and Flash. Students will learn the use of an HTML editor by using Macromedia’s Dreamweaver MX. Students will create their own web pages through the use of the software package Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and their knowledge gained about HTML, JavaScript, and Flash.
Expectations You are expected to follow the rules as outlined in the Gulliver Student Handbook, as well as adhere to Gulliver’s Acceptable Use Policy for Computers. You are responsible for your computer station during the class period. Since Web Page Design is self-paced, reading and concentration are essential in order to follow the guidelines contained in the classroom textbook(s) that accompanies the class. Therefore a workroom atmosphere is in effect for the computer labs at all times.
Instructional books (all of which are class sets).
Student space on the network to save your work before uploading to the Internet, e.g., your G:\ drive.
The contents of G:\ drive are exclusive to you, e.g., you may not share your work with any other student.
All
work will be done in class. Adequate time will be given for every student to be
able to complete work in class.
There
will be four assigned web projects over the course of the semester. Please turn
in all of your assignments for a particular project by uploading your files to
your created web page.
