Description

The Kingdom of Lordaeron was once the most powerful human kingdom in the world. While Stormwind was occupied by the Horde during the Second War, Lordaeron formed the Alliance that bore its name to fight the orcs.

However, King Terenas' own son Arthas betrayed the kingdom by joining the Lich King and assassinating his own father. The ensuing Scourge invasion devastated the kingdom. Now, after the Third War and the events surrounding the Frozen Throne, Lordaeron is a war-torn land of undead, with Scourge and Forsaken factions constantly battling for supremacy. Humans have become targets for both sides.

Geography

The Kingdom of Lordaeron stretches from the Tirisfal Glades in the west to Quel'Thalas in the east.

Inhabitants

The kingdom was once ruled by humans, but by the time of WoW, Lordaeron belongs to the undead. Sylvanas' Forsaken faction battles the Lich King's Scourge for control of the land.

Description

The Plaguelands are located north of Lordaeron's Capital City. The Plaguelands were formed in the months after the Battle of Mount Hyjal, as the Undead Scourge consolidated its hold on the kingdom. The Plaguelands now consist of corrupted forests, destroyed settlements, and deformed wildlife. However, with the coup of the remaining Dread Lords and the weakening of the Lich King, Sylvanas' Forsaken faction of Undead has made its home in the Plaguelands, no doubt plotting against Kel'Thuzad and the other inhabitants of Lordaeron...

Geography

The Plaguelands are located due north of the Undercity, and they extend from the Great Sea in the west to Stratholme in the east.

Inhabitants

The Plaguelands are inhabited primarily by Forsaken, though a large number of Scourge are also in the area as the undead factions battle for control of Lordaeron.

      Areas:
         -Undercity**

Description

Silverpine Forest is a gigantic woodland that covers most of the western edge of Lordaeron. The forest runs hundreds of miles inland, and was once the primary source of biodiversity on the continent. However, like most other things in Lordaeron, the forest suffered grievously during the Third War. Malfurion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind passed through Silverpine on their way to Dalaran City to stop Illidan's use of the Eye of Sargeras.

Geography

Silverpine Forest is located on the western side of Lordaeron.

Inhabitants

Silverpine is primarily inhabited by undead and corrupted native wildlife. However, a few human settlements continue to survive deep within the woods.

Description

Stormgarde was a member nation of the Alliance. A proud human kingdom, Stromgarde sent troops and aid to the beleaguered Alliance, helping to stem and eventually turn the tide of the Second War. Until the coming of the Legion and the Third War, the most notable event to take place in Stromgarde was the uprising of the interned orcs within the Alliance's prison camp. Durnholde served as the administrative head of the internment camps, until it was sacked by the reconstituted Horde led by Thrall. Stromgarde also contains Aerie Peak, where the Alliance's gryphon-riding dwarves made their home. Whether Stromgarde suffered the same fate as Lordaeron in the Legion's invasion remains to be seen.

Geography

Stromgarde is located in the southeastern section of Lordaeron.

Inhabitants

Stromgarde remains a human kingdom, though the Scourge are currently attempting to sack the nation.

      Areas:
         -Stormgarde City

Description

Tirisfal Glades was once a magical forest where both human and high elf could hone their magical powers. The Glades were renowned throughout Lordaeron, Azeroth, and Quel'Thalas for their beauty and magical power. However, the events of the Third War corrupted the forest, and now Tirisfal is but a demented extension of the Plaguelands.

Geography

Tirisfal is located in the extreme northwestern corner of Lordaeron.

Inhabitants

Tirisfal is home to legions of undead, demons, and corrupted natural wildlife.

      Areas:

Description

The Silvermoon Woods were once a rich, vibrant forest, helping to shield the high elves from danger. However, Arthas and the Scourge cruelly cut down and burned large portions of the forest, leaving the realm a shadow of its former self.

Inhabitants

Once inhabited by high elves, the forest is now home to Undead, Demons, and Blood Elves.

The nation was placed under the command of King Terenas of Lordaeron, who hoped to choose a new leader to bring the country in line with Alliance policies. Description

Dalaran City was once home of the Kirin Tor, a powerful group of mages who lent their powerful abilities to help the Alliance against the Horde. Featuring the famous Violet Citadel, Dalaran stood as the pinnacle of magical prowess amongst the humans. However, Dalaran was decimated by Archimonde the Defiler as a test of his powers when Kel'Thuzad summoned him into the world of Azeroth. In the subsequent war between the Alliance remnants and the Scourge, Dalaran traded hands many times, eventually ending up in the hands of Grand Marshal Garithos and his knights. Prince Kael'thas of the Blood Elves was stationed here for a time in the year 618, before the Blood Elves and Naga escaped to Outland. After the death of Garithos and the final defeat of the Alliance in Lordaeron, the ruins of Dalaran were presumably re-occupied by the undead.

Description

This fortress is where Thrall spent much of his life. Adeleas Blackmoore, a corrupt warlord in charge of the Alliance's internment camps, hoped to raise Thrall as a gladiator in order to use him to unite the Horde under Blackmoore's rule. Description

Stratholme was once the second largest city in Lordaeron, after the Capital City itself. Arthas began his descent into madness here, when he was forced to slaughter the city's plague-infected inhabitants before the Dread Lord Mal'Ganis could claim them as Scourge minions. Uther the Lightbringer and Jaina Proudmoore both refused to help Arthas, and his bitterness at their decision further alienated him from his people.

Description

The Sunwell Grove was a magical fountain located deep within Quel'Thalas. Created from one of Illidan Stormrage's vials of water from the original Well of Eternity, the Grove was the source of the high elves' power. After Arthas destroyed Quel'Thalas, he used the Sunwell's energies to resurrect the necromancer Kel'Thuzad. The evil power of Kel'Thuzad and the Lich King destroyed the Sunwell, leaving the high elves without their powers. Angry and defeated, the high elves renamed themselves blood elves and set out to eradicate the Scourge.
