Chacas

Eind januari was ik in Lima geweest, en had ik wat vergaderingen met tour operators in Lima, om onze toeristische projecten in Vicos en Humacchuco te proberen te verkopen. Terug in Huaraz, op drie februari, ben ik samen met een vrouw van Lima Tours en met een vrouw van de Engelse tour operator Kuoni naar Chacas gegaan, om te kijken of dat misschien gecombineerd kon worden met een visite aan "onze" dorpen. Chacas is een interessant dorp aan de andere kant van de Cordillera Blanca. En dat gebergte moest dus eerst overgestoken worden voordat we bij Chacas aankwamen. De pas, de Punta Ol�mpica, ligt boven de vijfduizend meter en ook boven de sneeuwgrens. Deze keer hadden we "geluk", want het sneeuwde flink! En ik vind dat altijd wel cool. We hebben zelfs een "hoogte-sneeuwballengevecht" gehouden!

By the end of January, I was in Lima to gather with several tour operators, in a try to sell our tourism projects in Vicos and Humacchuco. Back in Huaraz, I went with a woman from a Limean tour operator, and with an English woman from Kuoni Travel to Chacas (not to be pronounced as "jackass".. hahaha), an interesting village on the other side of the Cordillera Blanca mountain range, to see whether it culd be included in an eventual round trip, which would again include Vicos or Humacchuco. To get to Chacas, we had to pass the Cordillera Blanca first, and that was quite an adventure. Since the pass, named Punta Ol�mpica, is above 5.000 meters of altitude, it was snowing a lot (and freakin' cold!!!!) which made it difficult but cool to pass. We even had a small snowball fight up at 5.200 meters!

No final de Janeiro, fui a Lima para algumas reuni�es com operadores tur�sticos, para falar com eles sobre os nossos projectos tur�sticos e intentar vender-los. De volta em Huaraz, o tr�s de Fevereiro, fui com uma mulher de Lima Tours, e uma inglesa de Kuoni Travel a Chacas, uma aldeia muito interessante noutro lado da Cordillera Blanca. Fuimos para ver se este sitio pod�a incluirse numa viagem, que tamb�m incluir�a Vicos ou Humacchuco. Para chegar a Chacas ent�o, tuvimos
que passar a Cordillera Blanca, pelo passo chamado Punta Ol�mpica. Este passo est� a mais que 5.000 metros, e ent�o fazia muito frio e estava nevando! Eu sempre gosto muito disso, pois faz que a viagem � um pouco de aventura. Ainda fizemos uma luta de neve l�!

Al final de Enero me hab�a ido a Lima para reunirme con unos operadores tur�sticos, a ver si estaban interesados en
nuestros proyectos tur�sticos en Vicos y Humacchuco. De vuelta a Huaraz, el tres de Febrero, me he ido con una
mujer de Lima Tours, y una inglesa de Kuoni Travel, a Chacas, para ver si esta peque�a ciudad interesante en Los
Conchucos se podr�a incluir en un viaje, junto con Vicos o Humacchuco. Para llegar a Chacas, tuvimos que pasar la
Punta Ol�mpica, un portachuelo que est� m�s all� de los 5.000 metros. Estaba nevando, y mac�a un fr�o insoportable.
Mismo as�, �hemos hecho una lucha de pelotas de nieve a esta altura!

On our way back to Huaraz, by another road. In the background you can see a mountain (fogot its name) which looks a lot like the Matterhorn in the Alps.  Al fondo se ve una montaña que parece mucho al Matterhorn, una montaña en los Alpes.

We were also enjoying the very hot weather; just a few hours before, we were freezing in the snow!!!  También estavamos disfrutando el tiempo caliente; ¡¡¡Unas horas antes, estavamos moriéndonos de frío en la nieve!!!
