When creating a new character in World of Warcraft, the first choice a player must make is to pick a race. A character's race determines his or her appearance, faction, starting location, class choices, special abilities (for example, which mounts are available to the character), and starting stats.

The World of Warcraft is made up of two factions and eight races. The Humans, Night Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes make up the Alliance, and the Orcs, Tauren, Undead, and Trolls make up the Horde. Below you can find links to more information about the alliance race.

WOW features a contact sensitive curor as well as benign indicators. The cursor will change to reflect attack possibilities. If your character is out of range of a target it shows you can attack but has a red circle and line through it. Left clicking on the target will bring up their level and stats so you can decided whether to attack or not. You can still mouse over other creatures while this other creature is selected. So you can fight one creature while casting a spell on another.
