Fan upgrade, installing Twin Electric Fans.
Fan change over, I have removed the single viscous type fan. The fluid in the header had given up the ghost and as a result the fan was dragging power all the time.
In place of the massively over sized cowling and the old fan, I have installed twin electric fans with a thermo switch controller.
The first thing to remove is the intercooler pipework that passes over the radiator, removing the pipework is only for access to the rear surface of the radiator.  The top hose into the radiator will also need to be removed to allow access.  There are 4 screws holding the cowling in place, once these are removed a small strip below the fan needs to be removed to allow clearance during removal.
Once the cowling is removed there are only 4 small bolts connecting the viscous fan to the water pump pulley, once these are removed the fan will lift away, ensure the 4 nuts are fitted again as these hold the pulley to the water pump flange.
Below: The twin electric fans from a U13 Bluebird that were installed.
Below, left: The connection for the new thermo switch installed to operate one of the fan controller relays.

A second controller relay was wired to the existing air-conditioning electric fan switch, the original fan was burnt out and had already been removed as it had not been working since I purchased the car..
Above: The twin eletric fans, wired and fitted to the radiator.

The fans were fitted using aluminium angles to form mounting brackets and to seal the gaps around the radiator so 99% of all air that is pulled in by the fans is forced through the radiator first.

All the wiring for the fans has been sealed in black and secured away from the fan blades with black cable ties.
