Taking your Lovebirds Home

Typically, after purchasing a lovebird, some type of cardboard box or short-term travel method will be provided. If you already have bought a cage, you should bring it with you when you buy your bird. You may want to purchase a travel cage for your bird, as it comes in handy when you need to take your bird on trips or to the vet.

Make sure that you drive smoothly and carefully on the way home. Your new pet is already stressed by the change of surroundings and being separated from the other birds. Some bird will be more comfortable with a cover in the car. Keep the travel time as short and quick as possible. In the car, protect your bird from cold, heat and drafts. In cold weather, cover the cage with a cloth. On long trips, take half hour breaks every few hours.
