| This was a big year for us. In addition to our regular meetings, field trips and community service projects, three of our girls were awarded the Cadette Silver Award, the highest award a Cadette can earn. We also went to Savannah GA (click here for more pictures of our trip) to the birthplace of the founder of GSUSA. Here is our pictorial review of this year. | We took a trip to New Orelans--it was an interesting trip as there was a hurricane in the Gulf. We didn't realize that New Orleans would be evacuating as the hurricane wasn't close. We had a great day visiting the museum, the Riverwalk, eating lunch at Planet Hollywood, but when it came time to go home, we were caught in traffic for about 6 hours. | Audubon Council had a community fundraiser called "Urban Campout." Troops were asked to create a centerpiece that depicted Girl Scouting. We made a replica of Camp Marydale. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Ms. Brenda & Ms. Betty, our troop leaders, went on a Sojourn to Savannah in March to train for our troop trip in July. Ms Brenda volunteered to dress like a southern lady in earlier times. She decided she was glad to be living in this era--the corset was not fun at all! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Niki, Ashley and Rachel earned the Silver Award for their Make It & Take It craft event held for Bayoulands and Gonzales Service Units in November 1997. Of the 9 girls who started on the project, these 3 were the only ones that completed all of the work that was required to earn the award. They were recognized at the Audubon Council Girls of Distinction luncheon and at the Gonzales SU 531 leaders meeting. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The troop had fun earning the Photograph Iinterest patch. We went to the State Capitol in Baton Rouge and played around with trick photography, then to Walmart in Gonzales and learned how to develop film. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
