Kougaiji, who is probably one of the most important characters in Gensomaden Saiyuki, is one of the cutest I have ever seen, not including Suboshi, who still remains as the first in my heart. Kougaiji's father is Gyumao and his mother is Rasetsu-yo. He has 3 very loyal subordinates, more like friends. Yaone, Dokugakuji, and Lilin. Lilin is also his half-sister. Kougaiji's demons are very loyal, like he is. He has saved Yaone many times, and Yaone has fallen for him. Kougaiji, too, likes Yaone, and is very overprotective over her.
Kougaiji's mission is to defeat Sanzo's party and stop them from getting the scrolls. He needs to get the scrolls in order to free his father, Gyumao, who was killed by Nataku.
Kougaiji is quite old, though like Goku, remains the looks of a teenager. Kougaiji is, in fact, about 600 years old.
