Title: Sick Days are no fun Part 6
Nick felt a hand on his shoulder and he sprang awake.
"What's going on is Greg okay?" Nick stammered.
"Greg's still asleep, Nick you fell asleep yourself and if you don't move
right now you will a serious back injury and I don't want to fill out all
the workman's comp paperwork for an off duty injury. Now get up." Gil commanded.
Nick slowly painfully got to his feet, Gil was right his back was hurting
already. He didn't need to get himself hurt when Greg would need his help more.
"Come with me we're going to get you a more comfortable chair to sleep in for the rest of the night." Gil said.
Nick followed Gil to the patient's lounge and both of them lifting together got a lazy boy chair and took it back to Greg's room.
The nursing staff saw this going on and were about to say something, but one look from Gil at them and they all kept their mouth's shut.
They carefully put the chair next to Greg's bed, so that Nick could still
hold Greg's hand and be comfortable at the same time.
"Has there been any change in his condition since you called earlier?" Gil asked.
"No none at all, Gil I am sorry I fell asleep I didn't mean too." Nick said dejectedly.
"Why are you feeling sorry about falling asleep, your tired you've been
through a hell of a lot in the last 24 hours. You deserve to sleep." Gil
answered.
"Here go have this to eat and get something to drink in the Cafeteria. I
don't have to be on duty for another hour. I will stay with Greg and have them page you if something happens before you get back." Gil said and handed Nick a bag of take-out from his favorite restaurant.
Nick opened the bag and sniffed. His stomach gave Gil the answer he was waiting for.
Nick blushed at his stomach's reaction.
"Don't say anything now get out of here before the food gets too cold. I
will be here when you get back." Gil smiled.
Nick laughed embarrassedly himself and said "Thanks Gil, I really appreciate this a lot."
He left the room and went down to the cafeteria and ate his first meal since this morning's breakfast. He was able to relax knowing that Gil was staying with Greg while he ate.
When he was done his meal he made his way back to Greg's room he didn't want Gil late for work after all.
When he got to the room he stood there watching Gil and Greg, Gil was talking softly to Greg telling that he would be fine and that everyone at CSI was wanting him back already they missed him terribly.
Gil then slowly and lightly brushed a stray hair off Greg's forehead and
sighed. Nick never knew the depth of feelings that Gil had for Greg. Nick knew it wasn't the same kind of love he felt for Greg and he smiled knowing he knew something about Gil that no one else did that he did care deeply for people.
This made Nick feel that much better and even more proud of his boss than before.
Nick made his way back into the room and Nick saw that Gil had got him a blanket and pillow for the night too.
"Thank you for the food it was great and also for the pillow and blanket
too." Nick said.
"While you were gone I gave the staff the team's contact number's and told them to call us all when and if there was any change of condition. They finally agreed when I had Brass call the hospital administrator. That seemed to help out with the requests." Gil smiled evilly.
"Pull works sometimes doesn't it boss." Nick laughed.
"Your right it does now here are your orders for the night get some rest and Greg will be fine. I will see you tomorrow; I have to get to headquarters." Gil ordered and left for work.
Nick was still laughing as Gil left for CSI and he did what he was told he put his new coffee down on the tray beside him and got comfortable in the chair and took Greg's hand into his again.
Before too long Nick was asleep Nurse Crackett came in covered Nick up in the blanket.
"I still wish all my patients had as loving friends and family you and your Greg do." Nurse Crackett smiled.
The nurses were very surprised that during the night that Greg's condition became better rapidly. They also noticed that when Nick was touching Greg that his condition improved greatly.
Also that when the contact was severed while they were changing and
repositioning him and Nick was out of the room walking or getting more coffee that his condition went down and improved when he was in physical contact with Nick again.
He seemed much calmer and his color was better.
When morning came the nurses were shocked to see Greg's eye's open and Greg was holding Nick's hand in his.
"What am I doing here and how long have I been out?" Greg whispered not wanting to wake up Nick.
