Henry Wegner was born 06/19/1876 in Kiel, Germany, the son of Johanna Ahrens Wegner and was adopted by Hinrich Wegner. At the age of 17, he immigrated to the USA to live with his grandparents, Ernst and Carolina Wegner in Norwich, Kansas. Henry arrived on the 4th of July 1893
and was frightened by the firecrackers, thinking it was Kansas Indians.
Henry married Mary Bertha (Mamie) Wiske on 01/23/1910 and they
lived on a farm near Cheney, Kansas.
Mamie was born 11/17/1887 and died 02/18/1961.
Henry died 10/20/1970 in Cheney, Kansas.
Henry and Mamie had six children:

Erma Elizabeth Emma Wegner Castor
Ervin Carl (Shorty) Wegner
Melvina Martha Marie Wegner
Harold E. (Peachy) Wegner
and
Pauline Ruth Augusta Wegner Remick
The eldest of Henry and Mamie's children, Elsie Johanna Marie Wegner was born 10/15/1910 in Cheney, Kansas. She married Bruce Skillern (born 10/03/1909) in Wichita, Kansas on 10/20/1935. After Elsie and Bruce married, they went to California with a friend. They found jobs there and stayed. They lived in Temple City, CA. Elsie worked in a department store for some years, and Bruce worked for the water and power company in Los Angeles, CA. They had one child.
Erma was born 01/22/1913 in Cheney, Kansas. She married Forrest Castor (born 10/18/1909 in Cheney, KS died 05/31/1979). Erma stayed at home and raised her family until after the death of their youngest child. Then she went to work at the local school and cooked there for 23 years before retiring. She now enjoys traveling and fishing. Erma and Forrest had three children.
Shorty was born 10/13/1914 in Cheney, KS and died 02/16/1968 in Wichita, KS. He ran the family farm in Cheney, KS.
Born 09/23/1916 in Cheney, KS, Melvina worked in an office in Wichita, KS for several years. She is unmarried and still lives in Wichita.
Peachy was born 10/06/1921 in Cheney, KS. He married Estle Marrs Snyder (born 04/23/1918 died 04/20/1994) in Nov. of 1947 in Leesville, LA. Peachy was a veteran of the Korean War. He had a car dealership in Hutchinson, KS, worked for Hutchinson airport, was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator. He died 08/01/1993 in Hutchinson, KS. Peachy and Estle had one son.
Born 07/04/1924 in Cheney KS, Pauline is the youngest child of Henry and Mamie Wegner. Pauline worked as an accountant at a car dealership in Cheney for over 30 years. She married Everett Remick, born 09/05/1918 on 09/16/1948. Pauline retired in 1986 and now spends her time with her grandchildren. Everett is an avid gardener. They have three daughters.
