Stroud Intentional Community

Frequently asked questions - (we will add to this page as questions arise)

Q. Is this a hippie commune?

A. No. We have no interest in creating a lifestyle enclave of that kind.

Q.Is this a co-housing development?

A. No. Our focus is on rich rewarding communication and sustainable living - and we can't afford to wait ten years and invest mega money anyway. Most likely outcomes include a simple rental arrangement or a housing co-op.

Q. What is community building?

A. Have a read of these pages and the related links.

Q. Are you environmentally aware?

A. We aim to be although that isn't the primary focus of this community (i.e we are not trying to be an eco-village)

Q. Will I be able to buy a property in this community?

A. No - that is what co-housing is all about. It will be much more likely that you will rent space in a large property.

Q. Will I be able to rent a room in this community?

A. Yes and hopefully at a very reasonable rate.

Q. Is this a 'lifestyle enclave' for like minded new-agers?

A. No - we will not exclude people on the basis of where they shop and what car they drive.

Q. Will I be able to work and earn money inside the community?

A. That isn't part of the vision, so you will need a way to sustain your own finances.

Q. Will this be in a town or in the country?

A. Every chance it will be in a rural location with a car sharing scheme.

Q. Are families welcome?

Yes! Very welcome.

Do I need lots of money to join?

No. Not at all. But you will need to be able to pay a basic rent and sustain yourself financially.
