PAST NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS -- 2005-2006 Academic Year

-Posted by Tara, June 4th,11:55 PM-
The final week of the quarter is upon us! And that means we will be holding our customary End of Quarter Potluck this Friday, June 9th. We've decided to have everyone bring a bit of cash to this week's meeting to cover the cost of a pizza party. But we also need people to bring snacks and drinks. So if you haven't already done so, please go to the forums and sign up to bring a little extra something to help make Friday that much more enjoyable (and tummy filling) for everyone.

We wish all our club members a fun-filled, relaxing summer! See you next year. ^_^

I've added a few new anime titles to the library list today. To see what I've added, please check the thread in the forums.

I have also added a profile for our not-so-newly-elected Vice President, Nick Vogel, to the "About Us" section on the website. So if you'd like to know a little more about our newest officer, please take a look-see. Welcome aboard Nick!

The Anime Shopping Trip to LA will not take place this weekend, as previously advertised on our website. I have adjusted all web pages accordingly to note the change. We would still like to conduct the trip sometime this quarter, so we ask all members who are interested in attending to help us decide which weekend later on this quarter would be best for everyone concerned. We will be talking about a new trip date at this week's meeting on FRIDAY, APRIL 21st, so please come by and help us choose a date that will work with everyone's schedules! And remember, we need drivers (badly)! :p Thanks.

I've been busy with a lot of catch-up work concerning the club! Just want to let you all know that I've added links to galleries for all of Greenwood's Halloween Cosplay Contests in the Activities section of this website. I apologize for those of you who waited so long for the pics from our last Halloween cosplay contest, but better late than never, right? ~_^ If you're interested, take a look at some of our past galleries and see who you can recognize too!

I've also massively updated the links page (haven't done that in years :p). It's broken down into several sections: General Anime/Manga Sites, Anime/Manga Review Sites, Miscellaneous Sites, California Anime Conventions, Anime/Manga Retail Outlets, US Anime Companies, US Anime Music Companies, US Manga Companies, and US Anime/Manga Periodicals.

I hope that these links will be useful! I added many of them with the library in mind; if you're unsure what some of the series listed in the library are about, many of the review and series information sites should help you decide whether or not you'd be interested in borrowing certain titles. :) Please let me know if there are any other sites that would be helpful to have on the links page. Thanks, and enjoy!

Hi all! Spring quarter has begun, so I would like to announce that this quarter's meetings will be every Friday from 7:00 to 10:00 PM in Watkins 2240. Note the time change from 6:30 to 7:00 PM! To reiterate, it is the sole classroom upstairs in the south wing of Watkins Hall. We will continue the series we were watching last quarter: Beck, Monster, Princess Tutu, Twelve Kingdoms, Yakitate! Japan, and Trinity Blood. We may also have a few surprises in store toward the end of the quarter, so stay tuned!

At this week's meeting, we will be discussing the anime shopping trip to LA tentatively scheduled for the weekend of the third week of class: April 22nd or 23rd. So please be sure to come this Friday if you're interested, and help us plan for the trip!

Also, I made a MASSIVE update to the club's library list! We've got many more DVD's, VHS tapes, CD's, magazines, and manga anthologies for all club members to borrow for only a minimal membership fee. (Need some funds to continue updating the library after all!). You can download the list from the library page, so I encourage everyone to take a look and give something new a try. That's what the library's there for! ^_^

Hi all, sorry for the lateness of this update. ~_^ I just wanted to reiterate that meetings this quarter will again be every Friday from 6:30 to 10:00 PM in Watkins 2240. For those of you who remember, it is the sole classroom upstairs in the south wing of Watkins Hall. We will continue the series we were watching last quarter: Beck, Monster, Princess Tutu, Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid, Twelve Kingdoms, Yakitate! Japan, and Trinity Blood.

Also, if any of you are interested in borrowing items from the library, please ignore the list on this website and contact me via e-mail or at a club meeting for an updated list. We've got DVD's, VHS tapes, CD's, magazines, and manga anthologies for all club members to borrow for only a minimal membership fee. (Need some funds to continue updating the library after all!). Look forward to seeing new and familiar faces this quarter! :)

Just wanted to remind everyone that this week's meeting will take place in Watkins 1101 starting around 6:30. Also, we will be showing Trinity Blood instead of Speed Grapher for the rest of the school year, so I just wanted to post that bit of info here until I get the series and schedule pages updated. I'm still working on the library lists, but I'm hoping to have them completed this weekend. I have a partial list done now, so if anyone's interested in seeing it at this week's meeting, just ask me. =)

Just wanted to mention that I've updated all pages on the website except for the library section (need to do a massive overhaul, sigh). Activities listed are still tentative, and the rest of the schedule for the quarter will be posted shortly.

Oh, and one more thing: please visit and start posting in the forums! It's a great way to get the community back together again, not to mention letting us know what you think of the club! Thanks. =)

Hey all! Hope you had a relaxing, fun-filled summer... The beginning of the quarter's upon us, so I just wanted to let everyone know that we'll once again start our weekly meetings beginning October 7th. We'll be in a couple of rooms this quarter, so be sure to check the schedule page to see which room we'll be in each week. We'll be meeting Fridays from 6:30 to 10 PM, and will have almost an entirely new lineup this time 'round:

Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad
Twelve Kingdoms
Yakitate!! Japan
Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid
Speed Grapher
Monster
Princess Tutu

This is still a bit tentative, so be sure to voice your opinions on the fall lineup in the forums here to let us know what you think. I'll be updating the rest of the pages over the weekend with more details on club activities etc. Looking forward to seeing everyone again next Friday! ^_^
