Welcome to the Greenfield Police Department official website. Thank your for taking the time and interest to visit. This website was created in 2006 as an information portal for the citizens of Greenfield to view information about the department, meet the officers and staff, and most importantly build a good community relationship between the citizens and the department. Our deparment is comprised of one chief, three sergeants, four patrolmen, and two dispatchers. The police department also contains a fine group of volunteer officers who help serve the police department in the patrol division, communications division, and also provide security for the Wheels of Progress Festival and school activites.

I have received news that geocities, which is a website hosting company will be closing all accounts "later" this year. No specific date was given. This has always been a free donated website of my services to the community. I could move the website, however it would then cost. No decision has been made at this time on whether to continue the Greenfield Police Department website services as this will be a city of Greenfield administrative decision.

Special News Release April 16, 2009
On April 13, 2009 the Greenfield Police Department received a report from a victim stating that his rented storage unit in the 200 blk. of Lafayette St. had been forcibly entered and several items taken.  Among the items stolen were a couch and loveseat, coffee and end tables, aquariums, and an entertainment center.  The items were valued at over $3000.00.  On April 15, 2009 investigating officers executed a search warrant at an apartment located at 437 Jefferson St., Greenfield.  They found the apartment had been completely furnished with the items reported stolen from the storage locker.  The items were recovered and returned to their owner, and officers arrested Damon B. Gibson, 31, and Miranda Janes, 27, both of 437 Jefferson St., Apt. C., for felony receiving stolen property.  Gibson was taken to the Highland County Justice Center in lieu of $2500.00 bond, and Janes was released on bond.  Both will appear in Highland County Court, Greenfield, for arraignment.

Special News Release March 5, 2009
Due to budget cuts, effective March 13, 2009 the Greenfield Police Department will no longer have a manned dispatch center at Greenfield City Hall.  Police officers will be on duty at all times in the city, but they will be dispatched through the Highland County Sheriff's Department.   Any emergency should be reported by calling 911.  Emergency 911 calls will be routed to the sheriff's department and a Greenfield officer will be dispatched.  The regular telephone lines at the police department will be answered by an automated system, and citizens needing information or wishing to speak with an officer for non-emergency issues should leave a message.  Officers will be checking the system and returning the calls as soon as possible. Residents and business owners with alarm systems that currently call the Greenfield Police Department should contact their alarm service provider and have the number switched to call the Highland County Sheriff's Department at (937) 393-2212 or (937) 393-1421.

I have really enjoyed working with you the citizens and pet owners throughout the past years. It has been a great experience and I thank you for that and I hope it has given you the same."

Sincerely,
