EVELYN
Evelyn is the most senior of the Granny Gears. Still wearing a "trottin' harness' at 71, she is always ready to tackle something new. She just purchased her first computer, and is looking forward to surfing the NET. Evelyn is definitely a Granny on the go.
Evelyn says she is the "Real Granny" of the Granny Gears. She has 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Two of Evelyn's grandchildren are teachers, one in California, and the other in Nevada. The others live nearby and occupy plenty of time and space in Evelyn's life. Evelyn's grandchildren share her love of out door activities. They often join her in camping, biking, and hiking adventures..
Travel is one of Evelyn's favorite pastimes. In addition to covering most of the USA by motor home, she has toured Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, Alaska, and Canada.
Evelyn has a very busy schedule. "I work part time at Kohl's Department Store, when it doesn't interfere with my social life", she says. She is a volunteer at Columbus Resource Center, a neighborhood outreach agency. She also coordinates the monthly meetings for their breakfast Club. Along with the program, they feature a potluck breakfast.
Evelyn is active in her church, Maple Grove United Methodist Church. She has served on various committees, and was instrumental in planning and creating the lovely community park that is located on the church grounds.
In her "spare time"???, Evelyn builds and furnishes doll houses. She also collects stamps, calendar plates, and advertising pencils. Oh, and lest I forget, "Singing in the Barber Roselea Senior Center Choir is fun", she says.
