Presenting:
KATHLEEN
Kathleen has two children, a daughter who lives in Eastern Ohio and a son who lives in California. Through her son, she has two grandchildren, Scott, who is 10 and Shelby, who is 9.
Kathleen is
one of those rare people who, after her children were raised, decided to obtain a college degree. She moved to Columbus so that she could attend Ohio State University. At the age of 41, Kathleen became a college freshman. Eventually, she achieved her goal, earning a BS, then MSW in Social Work. After receiving her MSW Kathleen began a new career as a provider of health and support services for families that have young children with disabilities. She was employed in this capacity for 20 years, until her retirement, in May 1998.
After a work-life spanning 40 years, including the time before obtaining her MSW, Kathleen is enjoying her retirement. She is still extremely busy. However, these days she uses her time to pursue the activities that are closest to her heart.
Kathleen attends Unitarian Universalist Church. She recently participated in their Y2K community outreach program. She is also a member of Simply Living. Although not an active participant, she is totally aligned with their philosophy.

Like her Granny Gear "sisters", Kathleen enjoys traveling and outdoor activities, sometimes combining the two. In the fall of 1999 she cycled in Italy and Austria. In 1986 she cycled in Southwest Ireland. Kathleen has been on 11 Elderhostel trips. Her travels have taken her to the Galapagos Islands, Bermuda, Europe, Japan, Canada, Mexico and the US.
In 2001, this Granny Gear will be Alaska bound and it won't stop there. She recently took on a full-time temporary job, " to support my travel habit", she says.
Kathleen, along with the rest of the Granny Gears, does the "computer thing". We have scanners; we have zip drives; we have color printers; we have fancy-pantsy programs, and we correspond by email with friends all over the world. Some of us do Desktop Publishing; some of us do Web Site design; some of us just "surf the net". Remember . . . we're the Granny Gears ..."we still have our Razz ma Tazz...though we're up in years."Now it's your
turn. Kathleen wants to know all about YOU.
